Thanks Lilflip041786 for finally giving us what we asked for. Was it a long process to paint those rims or was it preety easy to mask? Did you paint the inside of the wheel or just the spokes? How long have you had your wheels like this is the paint chipping from road dabree yet? Did you have to wet sand after clear coating or does the spray paint go on pretty smooth? Sorry for all the questions but this is a mod that I am definately considering some time soon.

The process took about a day for me... cause thats all the time I had. They came out pretty good but I have had them for almost a year and there are few paint chips. I guess just like any normal wear and tear on a rim on any car. The masking took the longest cause my tape didn't stick to well.... but i got some rubbing alchohol and it stuck pretty well after that. I didn't paint the inside of the wheel just the spokes.

1st taped off everything
2nd sanded everything
3rd black primer (2 coats)
4th black engine paint (8 coats per wheel)
5th clear coat (4 coats per wheel)

I forgot what grit sandpaper I used...

good luck on painting... if you have any more questions feel free to ask.

oh yeah.. the paint did go on smooth after a few coats of paint.

seems to have worked for me i have slight chipping but i think that is due more to painting them in high 30 degree weather on a rainy day lol

i painted mine i used the gunmetal paint by Duplicolor. its the performace wheel paint. works like a charm and looks sooooo nice in person.

i also dont think the paint would work if you dont sand the wheels. my guess would be that the paint wont stick to well to the wheels and you would get those spots where the paint just runs off the wheel and then it looks really bad and tacky. i started at 11 and ended at 6 and i did it with a friend and 1 pizza break. sanding washing and taping took a long time i dont remember the grit we used too but it was fairly rough. also we tried the blue painters tape but it doesnt stick very well to the rim or tire so what we did was put a ring of take inbetween the tire and wheel (vertical like a wall) and put some towels on the tires. also if you can catch it fast enought the paint wont stick to the tires. we didnt use any primer, and did 4 coats of paint and 3 coats of clear. i have 1 chip but thats cuz im stupid and hit a curb already lol. ill just sand it out and repaint it after the winter. we did each coat in incriments of 10-15 min. except for the last color coat in which we waited 30 min then did the clear coats and did 15-20 min inc. between them and then let the wheels sit for about 1 hour before putting them on the car. i also painted the center caps but not the lugs. im 100% satisfied with the outcome. and everyone that compliments it thinks its powdercoated i guess it helps to have a friend that has been painting houses with his dads company since he was 8 lol. but my best advice would be to get a friend (big help and your not lonely doin it lol) if i did it by myself it wouldnt have been as good because i would have rushed it because i wouldnt have wanted to leave my car on jacks over night. the paint i used was about $5 a can and we used 2 cans of the paint for the 4 wheels and only 1 can of clear. (also we wetsanded if that makes a difference) (we soaked the sandpaper in hot soapy water for about 15 min before we started to sand). im so happy withe gunmetal color. the can makes it look like its not going to be dark enough for the gunmetal look but its perfect and not as dark as black but definately noticably different from stock. and its almost a perfect match to flint mica i was origionally gonna try the bronze paint put i sprayed some of it in autozone.. and it kinda looked like poopie lol i bet it wouldnt have came out bad tho. but its a easy fun and cheap mod to do if your on a budget and cant afford a new set of wheels like me. and if you do it right you'll get a lot of nice looks and maybe a thumbs up or 2 (i got some when i was at a stop light in RI lol)

I think it would be really great if someone did a how-to on this and shoved it into the tech section...
