Default Rim Size for xB

Ok people I want to see what all everyone thinks would be a better lookin rim size on a xB. I am having a hard time deciding what size rims to go with for my xB when I get it. Let me know what you think.

For those who have had both sizes, which one did you feel gave you the better ride.

17" is as high as I would want to go. Style over size. I may stay with 15"s.

what are you going for, function or fashion. what style are you planning on, euro, sport, vip, luxury. those all go into play. for vip or luxury go 18. for euro go with 17's. for sporty go with 15-16.

How are the roads in your part of AZ?

The taller the rim, the smaller the rubber. Bad roads and....
Well, look through the forums, you'll see plenty of photos
of what happens to tall rims on bad roads.

Because I'm in Chicago and we are known for our potholes,
I went with 17" rims and 45 series rubber to help protect.
Just in case though, I did get insurance specifically on my
rims and tires.

The roads here are good and bad depending on the area. I guess I am trying to figure out which would give a better ride. But I do know that it all depends on the tires and wall thickness. Then there is the whole trying to keep the tire diameter close to factory to keep the speedometer reading correct. Or the option is getting it calibrated right so that it will read the correct speed with different rim and tire sizes.

I totally agree..those factors play a part in choosing wheel sizes. Make sure you lower your xB though.

For shows, I would go w/ 18 inch wheels, BUT for daily driving and hazards of CA freeways, I have 17s. The ride is much better also.

Hey PandaIst don't worry man thats the first thing that I want to do is Lower my Box when I get it. Just not sure to go with the 2" Goldline drop or the Hotckis drop. I am leaning a little more towards the 2" drop but not sure if there would be any rubbing problems if I decided to go with 18's.

I found some rims that I love but right now they are only in 18's but a website I saw said they have 17's as well in the same style but they say they aren't out yet.

18s for AZ (assuming u don't have frost heaves and major plow-caused pot holes)
17s or less for Northeast

or jack up the box, put on some boggers, and u can roll on 24s with a ton of tire between the rim and the road

I think that I am leaning alittle more towards the 18's just cause I think they'd look great but I need to make sure I have enough wall height on the rim. For example I don't think I could put 35's I'd have to have 40's or 45's but I know doing that it will change my speedo to be off a little bit.

I would go with 17's. I live in the same area as you, and IMO the roads will beat you up on 18's. Not to mention 18's might look funny with 45 series tires. I just put on some 17's with 215/45/17 tires, and I like the ride. Comfort comes first for me. Just my 2 cents.

Squareone your probably right about 18's on 45 series. Do you think 18's would look good on a 40 series?? one of the reasons I'm leaning more towards 18's is cause one of the rims that I love they only have them in 18's and 19's right now but I did see on a web site that they will have 17's but I called a wheel shop from a magazine ad and they said that the 17's weren't out yet.

I should really focus first on getting my box then worry about rims later....LOL
