Thinking outside the box...

Thinking outside the box...
I'm getting a white xB in a few weeks (maybe sooner). I had purchased a set of Sportmax 002s in black in 2006 with the intentions of fitting them on a Civic. Needless to say, that didnt turn out as well as I had anticipated.
The wheels never sold and they're still sitting in my patio. Perfect wheel setup for the xB, I thought. They have a great look and they're not huge wheels (i hate dubs).
After seeing way too many xBs on Sportmax 002s, I started to feel like my box just wouldnt stand out at all. I found a set of wheels on another forum for sale. I purchased them and should be here relatively soon.
The specs are:
16x7
+38 offset
4x108
Theyre made by Compomotive (I believe they mostly cater to European vehicles).
Being that the xB is 4x100, I will need adapters to fit them. I found 4x100 to 4x108 adapters that are 1" thick or 25.4mm. This will lower the offset to +12. PERFECT!! I am a huge fan of low offset wheels so this should workout perfectly.
Enough babble , tell me what you think of the wheels and how they'll look on a white xB.
I plan on getting the center repainted the same or similar color so it has a nicer finish.

That will look different, that's for sure. They look like really sweet rims. I still rock 002s though because even if everybody and their mom has them on this forum, there's not a single person that has them in my town. I haven't even seen them in my state yet even though I'm sure they're here. So while they're not unique at all on this forum, outside of the forum they get looks all day long.

It's true that a lot of people on the forum are rocking them, and not as many locally... BUT! I have seen at least 5 xBs in my area (not even the entire city) that have the 002s. I still love the way they look, but I'd rather stand out a little.

Round hole wheels
I also like this round hole look - like the original hubcaps on the XB.
I have looked for rims and there are not too many that are very close.
These look cool. Maybe paint them silver like the original hubcaps.
Please post pictures when installed!!!!!!!!

Not a fan of wheel adapters plus it will push the wheels too far out but if you think it will look good go for it. Me, I'd spend the money on new wheels instead of just adapters.

If almost everyone is running 0 offset Sportmaxes, why would +13 be so bad? It's not excessive.

Most people run like 17X7 or 7.5 wheels with like a 40mm offset so the front wheels don't stick out past the front lip. Never knew battleships had wheels. LOL
Seeing that they are 7 inches wide they would stick out about 1/2 inch farther than the stock wheels if they fit without the adapters which would look fine. You'll see what I mean when you spend about $200 on adapters. Also make sure the adapters have the hubcentric lip on them to make the wheels run true.

I understand everything you're saying, but I like low offsets.
I did some diagrams and calculations. I compared them to the 15x8 0 offset Sportmax.
Sportmax 15x8
Compomotive 15x7
That's 1" narrower. So that's .5" off each side of the wheel (.5" further from the suspension and .5" further inside the fenders, assuming they fit under the fender).
When you take a look at the offset.
Sportmax 0 offset
Compomotive 12.6 offset
12.6mm converted to inches is 0.496 (.5"). That means that the Compomotives will be .5" further inside the fender just b/c of the offset.
.5" b/c of the width and .5" b/c of the offset = 1" under the fender (again, assuming they fit inside the fender).
I was originally going to run the Sportmaxes anyway, so I do not mind the low offset/poke. I prefer wheels to be flush or poking than to be tucked under the fenders. Looks more aggressive.
