IIrc it was a 205-55 or a 195-55...
I know my friend Jorge has 205-55... nice and wide and meaty...
about your spacer question... im not all to sure, i had a 10 on my rear with my 15s and it was just fine... but if your lookin for that flush ook you might wanna do what ya said...

The offset would be right for 8" wide, you don't need as low, try 5/10mm instead, or OTG Hub Spacers & 5mm all around.
On to Tires, 205/55 should be fine, but if you want a streched look, got for 195/50s. I'm thinking about getting 16x8 (501s) and running 195/50/16.

on a 16x7 205/55/16 is too big. That is a inch over stock rolling diameter. I had 205/50/16's on my 16x7's until last week and even that was over stock but between the US/JDM OEM tire sizes.
Running a 205/50/16 is the correct size tire if you want to keep your speedometer correct. This is what I run.
I currently run 35 offset with a 15mm spacer in the rear (for a total of +20 in the rear) and I do not rub with my 16x7s. I swear -- a millimeter more, and I'd probably rub when I have people in the back seat.

I'm pretty sure they are 40 offset. I bought them from a friend so Im not 100% on that. They definately fit and I'll be running 25mm spacers in the rear with camber shims from OTG for a flush mount and some 10mm spacers in the front...
