Default *sigh* Has a tire shop ever messed your car up?

I went in on Volks and i came out on steelies and needing a body shop.

They also managed to let one of my wheels fall off the machine putting a nice gash in the lip. I just hope its all repaired in time for Sibling Rivalry.

They offered to cover everything. The only problem is i want my friend to do the repairs. He does all the body work on my box but he works out of his backyard shop. I dont know if they will give money to someone who doesnt own a "shop". Do you think it would be fair to just request a refund of the repair amount and i will pay the guy from that?

just tell them you want to use your own shop. explain that you've been going there for a long period of time , if they won't cut you a check then you sue them , or get ahold of the shops liability insurance

Ok I don't have a ton of experience in the shop...but isn't it a dumb idea to have two people operating a lift? For safety reasons the person who puts the lift arms in place is the one who operates the lift.

Well lets see....

Took my car to NTB in my area and had to take it back 4 times!

-First time the damaged two wheels trying to get tires on them. They had to replace the wheels.

-Second time I took it back was because when they replaced the wheels they cross threaded my lugs and needed to replace one complete side of studs.

-Third time I took my car there (only because I had a credit and needed a quick plug) was to plug a hole in my tire....

-Well lets just say that the fourth time it was because they damaged the new wheel that they have already replaced.

Never going back!!!!!! lol I don't care if they give me $1,000,000 in credit I know that only means $1,000,000 of crappy service and workmanship!

(vent done!)

It seems that tire shop guys arent the brightest mechanics in the shop... When I had my '93 volvo I brought it in in perfect running order to get new tires on it, dropped 450+ came back an hour later to find that my volvo had a brand new clanking muffler, to make it worse once I pointed it out to the mechanic that pit them on he denied it was even there, I told him to get his supervisor and his supervisor clearly (and vocally) agreed with me and offered to have the exhaust replaced at no cost to me (at an actual exhaust shop, not there).

At least I didnt have to get ugly with anyone, its always annoying to expect an hour of work and actually lose your car for 6...

working at one of the biggest tire shops in the state for a few year I have seen and sadly messed up a few times. When ever my guys or myself messed anything up my company would pay for it with out thinking twice. I would have them fix it, I know your buddy does all your work but were talking about a simple side skirt, have them order it painted and then have your buddy put it on. Best of luck

they want me to take it to a local shop that does simple accident repairs. They are just going to fiberglass the crack and paint it.
