Default [looking for] suicide [door] kit

Anyone know if any company has plans for rear suicide doors on the xb? it is my most awaited mod.

I remember talking to silkywilson and Tstrel about that kind of kit at a meet. Unless some company fabricates a door hinge that pulls out enough to clear the door when it swings out, I doubt it'll ever come out.

well.. get the specs for the bB Open Deck.... copy the mounting points, hinges etc... there you have it... suicide doors...

they come factory -- it's just on the open deck version is all.

I didn't mean YOU specifically... a kit shouldn't be hard for any reasonably capable machine shop so lond as the had the example or specs to go by. Have something to copy, they could make it in a day or so.

unfortunately the opendeck prolly wouldnt work cuz the doors are smaller and put further forward not into the wheel hump area.

Of my friends cars that had suicide doors (Excursion, ranger, etc) I've never seen a bolt on kit. There is always cutting, welding, filling, and painting to be done. Most systems use a bear claw latch which is the standard for suicides but fab work is still going to be involved, especially if you want it to look professional in the end.

definately - a suicide mod will NEVER be a bolt on kit affair. There is no way around that. The goofy lambo kits work off the stock mounting points - that's the only reason they 'work' (although I think they DON'T work... but that's another topic).

The xB would require extensive bracing under the sheet metal, the door would have to reconfigured inside for all the new hardware etc etc etc

A bear claw latch in this particular would not be required (but could be used). baer claws are used on front doors to keep them from flying open - on an xB rear door, the front edge of the door has a lip on it that tucks under the rear edge of the front door - the rear door would not be able to open unless the front door were open too - just like on x-cab pickups (like a Ranger) where the back 2 doors are suicide - you can't open JUST THOSE doors - front must be too. So any factory latch would work, but - that's the least of your worries in a conversion like that!
