Default 3rd brake light Cover.... LED possible?

okay so i just got the SCION 3rd break light vinyl in the mail, and i put it on the lens and then i added some black electrical tape around the edges so the absolute only thing that shows is SCION well during the day the only thing you can see is CIO and at night you can only see the full SCION if your at the right angle. you can barely see the S or the N.

Now I am looking for a way to fix this problem to were night or day you will see SCION. Can the 3rd brake light on a scion be modified with LED's? has anyone done something like this? I have 5% tint so its even worse than most peoples im sure. Surely someone has come up with a cure for this, i searched 3rd brake light LED and got nothing but tc links. if anyone could help me out i'd appreciate it.

anything is possible with time and money..

my first thought is drilling out holes and sticking leds in there.

hmm... well.. if your having trouble with your current bulbs not lighting them up all the way.. then replacing them with bulbs are just gonna make them worse.

they make the bulbs... but yeah.. not gonna work... sounds like you need to add more light.. a DIY project at hand!

i dont see why not, theres a few sites out there that sell LEDs that are ready for hook up to 12v power from your car.

i have a replacement LED bulb from autolumination.com but it doesnt light up all the LEDs. some states (like NC) dont allow any type of light covers on lights so be careful

I replaced the oem bulb with 3 x 3157 led bulbs in the 3rd brake light, they are much brighter than stock and use less power, I wired all 3 onto the existing harness, I drilled holes in the stock reflector to mount the leds-

hey rallying the scion I am a ex alaskan

I found the stock xB's 3rd stop light (CHMSL) ugly.

So, I replaced with a low-profile LED light assy:
https://www.scionlife.com/forums/vie...862447#1862447

But I had to fabricate mounting brackets and rewire things a bit. This is not a conversion for non-mechanically inclined individuals.

But as someone else said here: with enough knowledge and funds, you can accomplish pretty much anything. :D
