Default Cracked windshield question..

so yeah I just had my windshield replaced about 2 months ago..$250 bux out of my pocket. Then this morning my new windshield gets cracked again! Now the question I have is the deductible I paid just 2 months ago a annual deductible or just for the 1 time? I will be freakin ____ed if I have to shell out ANOTHER 250 bux =/

how big is the crack?

if its smaller than a quarter, then you sdhould get that stuff fixed quick before it turns into a bigger crack

If its a big crack already, try to find the cheapest way possible for you. Sucks to spend $250 AGAIN after 2 months.

Check with Safelite, they came and installed mine in my garage for $217 total with a new windshield molding a couple months ago.

Damn, nice price. I've seen $250+ job that don't even use OEM molding.

I had Safelite do mine also. They came out to the house. They have a website and you can get a quote that way. As to deductibles---each occurance has a new one--sorry. I would install rock catchers if I were you:

Actually it has been noted that the xB is now known for stress cracks along the bottom of the window. If it happens once expect it to happen about once a year or more.

NOT TRUE. Stress related fractures are do to the quality of the glass and not the vehicle unless its been in an accident and the front windshield frame isnt true to spec any longer.

When i had my SafeLite windshield installed a couple years ago it developed a stress crack 2 inches from the drivers side A pillar. They replaced it with a PPG at no cost and it has held up nicely considering. When i have this one replace in a couple weeks i again will be using a PPG with new gasket.

I am at about 24k miles on my 06.5' xB. Just got a cracked windshield from a rock chip.

Should I go with Safelite? What is PPG? I would rather spend $500 and have it last the lifetime of my vehicle than $200 for a few years.

Also, safelite quoted me $210 installed in CA.

I have had my xB for over 4 years now, and have been active with NRG for almost as long now. You are the first im hearing of this problem where you and your associates have to replace your windshields every 6 to 12 months.

If this is the case, i would suggest you either use a different glass shop, get a better quality glass ( PPG ) or maybe theres something in your water.

Knock on wood, but I have had no problems with my glass. The only thing I know is that they have all gone to safeauto and either got OEM or I think PPG glass put in. I'll have to check on the PPG thing and get back to you. Also, they have had their glass crack as soon as 2 hours after they left safeauto. Maybe it is SafeAuto's installers

Also if you all don't believe me here is a bunch more people with the same issue. You cannot tell me that there isn't something wrong with the design for this many people to have the same problem.

If i had to guess i would put my money on the Safelite glass. I too had that situation where i had a Safelite windshield installed and it cracked hours later. A couple days later i had a PPG installed, and it lasted quite well for a year or so.

I just had mine replaced 2 days ago, and i forgot how well it is to look through clear glass again.
