DC sports exhaust tip
By some act of freaking God the silencer and tip fell off of the exhaust of my Xb RS2, which has a DC sports exhaust. Would this be covered under warranty, since it came on the car off the lot?
If not where woud I find sa suitable silencer and tip w/o purchasing a new exhaust kit?
Would this work?

This is a know problem with the older DC exhausts. Contact DC and they should replace it. If they push back let them know that you know this has happened to a lot of Scion owners.
Is your car still under warranty? Print out the following post and take it to them. This problem has effected many RS2 owners.

Like they said, take it back to the dealer. This is a known problem. I have been keeping a close eye on mine for cracks. If you look at the welds, they look like no filler rod was used. This makes for thin welds that are prone to cracking. Local guy with RS 2.0 has had to have his replaced. Dealer took care of it with no problems. I will have to keep an eye out for you next time I visit inlaws in Naylor. We used to live in Valdosta, about 17 years ago.
What if you have an RS3 with the RS2 exhaust on it? I have an Envy green but bought the RS2 exhaust off some lady that had an RS2, cuz she didnt like how loud the exhaust was... Ill keep an eye on it reguardless...

The welds I am talking about are the ones where the Muffler parts are assembled. Pipe to main body and exhaust tip welded to main body. The welds are only about 3/16 inch wide and fairly smooth. Check out this post and photos from Baine showing the cracked welds on his DC Sport muffler. Hope this helps. I am keeping a close watch on mine.

Yes, it happened today. I heard some clinging noise while driving about 40mph and my wife said that's from the radio, so I stopped at the store, looked and behold, the TIP
fell off with the silencer . Then I went back and found it laying in the middle of the road, picked it up and went straight to the dealer and showed them the piece. The service manger said that was aftermarket exhaust, I had to tell him it was a special package come with the RS2.0. Anyway, set up appointment for next Wed. He wanted to check the exhaust system first !! I told him I read some reports about this on S.L. but he still want to look , well will see
I did called AEM about this and the guy said he never heard of it, I guess it is up to the dealer, but with so many people having this problem, Toyota should have a recall on it, that my opinion !!! I'll call Scion customer service later .
Toyota should warrant not AEM. They one guy had bought from AEM so they would warrant that one. Print out the longer post and take it with you. You will notice that several people have had trouble when the part was finally ordered and it turned out to be the wrong number. Good Luck....
