Default Finally Happened :(

Well I knew it was gonna happen eventually but I did not think this early! Was on the highway coming home last night and 2 small pebbles flew at my windshield...one flew off no damage...other...damage. It's not horrible so I do not have to replace..but its annoying. It's a small little bubble to the left of the drivers side..it sux. If anyone know if these can be fixed let me know but I doubt it. Just thought I would share in my sadness.

Windshield repair kit from auto zone for about $10 I have fixed about 6 stone chips so far.
Its not perfect but better than leaving it to get worse.

a lot of insurance companys will pay full for repair vs. replace. Call your ins. man and inquire.

Why are they so easy to break? Cheap glass? If so, when you have it replaced is the glass any better?

Windshield cracking is much like paint chips. There are FAR more vehicles on the road now than there were even 10 years ago. This means there is more damage to the road and more crap on the road as well as more cars to kick it up at you.

Our windshields aren't bad or cheap, they're just tortured every day. Don't believe me? Ride a motorcycle with an open-face helmet on the Interstate sometime and we'll talk after that.

As for the chips in your windshield Bonger, either fill them yourself or have it done. You dealer should have a guy that they will put you in contact with if you ask.

There are many threads on this issue. Many have had their windows replaced multiple times. Our windows are very vertical and this seems to cause the problem. There are various grades of glass---but they all pit or crack when hit.

So the kit really stops stone chips from developing into cracks?
Does the kit have a shelf life after the first use, or do you have to buy a fresh kit for each chip that comes along?

Dont know about shelf life,It seems when I need to fix another one I cant find the kit.
It seems that it has a shelf life as it comes with about 10 clear curring?? sheets.

Well great news! Called my insurance (progressive) and they said since it is less than the size of a dollar it can be repaired and its free! The place is coming to my WORK tomorrow and doing it there! I am so happy...I might jump around. Thank you guys for the great feedback on how to go at it.

Its not a perfect fix,I still have a small spot like a pit at all the spots but you have to look for them.

My insurance is fixing my rock chip for free. Here in Ohio, it's a law that you are not allowed to drive around with a chipped or cracked windshield so your insurance company is required to cover it for you w/o a deductible.
