Default Fog light Installation and wiring

Hey I just installed a set of new factory fog lights. Very easy to install. Followed the directions provided by Scion and the wonderful installation description here on Scion Life. The total installation took about 1/2 hour with the majority of the time spent getting the little relay mounted in its holder back on to the fuse panel mount. Not much room down there for your hand. They are great! There was no I was going to fork over $350.00 list for a plug and play kit that looked so easy to install. So, I found a seller on E-Bay and paid $185.00 - including shipping. Just about 1/2 price for new factory lights, sealed in a Toyota box. A word of caution: Make sure that you are getting the whole story from E-Bay Sellers! Ask a lot of questions before you bid. Be skeptical of works like: Like new, New Old Stock, buy it you'll love it, only one left, etc. I once saw a listing stating: Brand New Genuine inauthentic leather! Anyway, I love my new factory fog lights. However they will only turn on when the headlights are on. I want them to come on independently. With the ignition on of course. Any one have any ideas out there?

Default ....Is that legal there?....

Good work, yes that relay is hard to place in the back of your fuse box, you can not see what you are touching.

Yes, many threads about how to mod the relay to allow independant use. There is a way, but first you must search the threads for 'relay' or 'fog relay'.
Very hard for the non-electrion but possible.

They are working as designed, If you want them independant, you need to totally rewire the switch and relay.

Best bet is to order a full xB wiring diagram (from the Toyota Dealer) for $50 and they you'll know exactly what has to be wired where. Assuming that you are ellectrically inclined.

I'll be eventually installing my JDM factory foglights to come on when at least the parking lights are turned on. That's how I want mine to work.

That is exactly how I would like my fog lights to work. That's how my Benz fog lights work. Please post instructions if you can.

The JDM foglights have a different switch than standard foglights. But I'll try to post the diagram once I get to it (not at least for few more weeks).
