Default Fuel door stuck?

When I bought my 2006 xB the fuel door did not open, I can hear it releasing but it does not open unless I pop it open with my key.
Should there be a spring or something so that it pops open, or opens enough that I do not have to pop it open with my key?
When I pop it open there is no rezistance when I use my key>
Thanks in advance

You might have to bent out the metal tab that pops the door open, i had to do that with mine.

sometimes the catch doesn't clear the catch tab, as kewlbox says, bend the tab in for clearance, but check to see if there is a pressure spring in the fuel door.

well, on the tc, it isn't a coil spring, it is a "V" shaped piece of metal that the fuel door squeezes it as it closes, and the fuel door pulls in a tab that release it.

it should be attached to the hinge of the fuel door, but it just clips on and off, so maybe it fell off. check if it is there.

I just looked it is not there, so I guess I'll go to the stealer and get another.

wow...sets you back a whopping...50 cents plus shipping! probably better off paying the full .63 cents at the dealership, plus tax.

yeah, print that out and take the part number to the dealer.

i remember when i went to get a new front bumper for my tc because they won't ship large parts, the douche at the parts department quoted me a price that was $20 over msrp sparks had posted. i corrected him about this and then he suddenly played dumb going "oh, i pulled up the wrong part number, sorry!"

can someone take a pic of the inside of a '04-'06 xb gas cap door?

my gas cap door hinge (tension pressure 1 pc thin metal/v shaped) fell off when I opened up the gas door release, and really don't know how to attach it...it seemed to be glued? to a brown plastic piece, or did a small piece of plastic break off, so that's why it doesn't appear to want to be reattached???

please, there appears to be two ways it is to be reattached, and I need to see which is the correct way...

Go to the dealer and re-order the part.

I had to do mine today. it's a fuel spring assembly piece (part number 77360)

Looks like this Toyota - SPRING ASSEMBLY- FUEL FILLER Part Number: 77360-52010

Cost me 5 bucks at the dealer.
