Hey!
Well I finally gathered the time to clear the corners on my xB. Used the hammer method and have most of it out except for the pieces that are still stuck inside the housing. They are too small to break and seem to just be stuck in there. Anyone have this problem and please help me to find a way to get those pieces out.
Thanks!

the compressedair ____ only works if the pieces are scattered and microscopic. i had to use an air compressor when i drilled and installed my varad headlight flasher kit.
Before you use the oven method. I would try tapping the head light on a work bench or something similar to try and jar it loose. That is, if it is a broken piece that some how became weged in. If you do not put the assembly back perfectly, your gonna have leaks. 9 out of 10 xB owners agree, a leaking, fogged up headlight sucks.
When I cleared my headlights I had the same problem on one of the lights, what i did was take a coat hanger and bent it so that i could have some leverage when pulling on it eventually it popped out, glad I have patients. Don't do the oven method its just too risky!
If you are carefull the heat gun woks well. I had the same problem. If you heat the lamp up when you put it back together than the glue seals its self up fine. Had mine done for about six months and no leaks
I didnt use a heat gun. Just a small long flathead screwdriver, time, and alot of patience. Just keep prying at it and it will pull out. What it is, is the part of the reflector that slides into the channel. It will come out, just keep pulling on it.
I'm prolly going to do mine today. I'll try to hammer trick first, if not I'll throw em in the oven. I've done countless lights with the oven method and have never had a problem with it. It won't crack the plastic if you know what you're doing. I've cleared the ones on my truck that way plus a lot of my friends trucks/cars the same way.
so how many peopple have leakes in theres? i wanna clear mine out so bad but i am worried about something goin worng, i consider my self pretty handy but i do not have experience with cars, ive been putting it off for weeks... should i attempt it?
I used to oven method to take the reflector out. at first i tried to use a little hook tool and i got most of it out by breaking it. but then i got enough ***** to put it in the oven and it worked like a charm. 200 degrees for 20 minutes. it pulls apart pretty easy but just watch it closely while its in the oven and make sure it doesnt touch any part of the oven and put it on a cookie sheet.
Hammer and screwdriver worked for me and no scratching of the lens or headlight housing...Just like lastllokcustoms said take a long flatbladed screwdriver and slowly work/maneuver out all of the reflector pieces...Some pieces do and will get stuck but if you have patience and take your time it WILL all come out...GL
