Help me decide between Polar White and Shadow Mica please!
Yes, this is a little secret which most people are unaware of. Everybody thinks that a white car (just like a white clothing) would show dirt very easily.
But that is just not the case. I'm on my 3rd white car.
"Welcome to the white side Luke..."
:-D

The only bad thing about the white is if you chip or scrape the front end plastic up it is black underneath and show alot. other than that i still think it is the best color out there, besides getting into custom paint.
I've owned both so this post might be helpful. I owned my 2006 PW xB for 10 months. In my opinion, the white was hard to keep clean. I live in Pennsylvania and there are a lot of bugs throughout the summer and fall. You WILL see every bug that hits the front of the PW. Constantly had black speckles of bugs and red and yellow smears from bug guts. I actually washed the car, drove it 20 miles to the dealer to get it appraised for trade in value and the guy had to carefully inspect the front because it looked like the front fascia was chipped. I will say that the PW (when clean) is a great look especially with the tinted windows that I had on it.
However, the Shadow Mica that I bought about one month ago is much easier to keep clean. I have to dry this color with a chamois so that it does not get water spots, but it is very hard to see any dirt or bugs on the front of it. The SM is a very unique color. It has tiny flakes in it that look different colors in sunlight. Like someone else said, it looks greenish in the sun and very dark gray in overcast conditions. So far, I have to say that I like the shadow mica better. I hope this information helps.

Thanks for the posts, everybody. I guess I'm glad that I haven't officially sold my WRX yet so I can have more time to be wishy-washy about my next color choice! "cyergey" I really appreciate your input on both colors... only thing is I just don't know if I can resist the sexiness of the PW!! We don't have too many bugs here in WA state, just mist from the roads when it rains (or floods depending on what season you're talking about).

Bump... Why? I'm not sure, really. But I think I'm going PW. My WRX is supposed to go buh-bye on Tuesday
... Then hopefully I'll have a PW box in my garage by the end of the week!! :D

Nope, I've never had any problems with it. But for the last year it's sat in my garage only being driven every couple weeks because I commute with a Geo Metro. But before I got the Geo I managed to rack up 105,000 miled on the WRX. It gets about 25mpg but burns premium and I'm about 70 miles roundtrip everyday, so it gets expensive just to drive (especially with our unpredictable gas prices). Plus on weekends we usually drive my wife's Civic (stock thank you) around because I like to keep the WRX clean and she hates the Geo.
So hence the need for a good, reliable commuter car that looks nice and gets good mileage. I don't need to go fast anymore and if I do I have a motorcycle to do that. The obvious choice? xB!! I'm not planning on modding it as much as my Suby, probably just rims, springs, and a buttload of Dynamat to keep it quiet.

(Sorry for the babbling)

Interesting answer. I have the same issue. I wanted a cheap, unique car with great fuel economy. I have a motorcycle to go fast as well, a Buell XB9SX. I must love the "XB" letters for some reason. Well, good luck. I hope the white works out for you. They do look great.
Heh heh, I shoulda put the word "mod" in quote marks... I just changed out the license plate frames (SL back, Formula D front), put small SL decals at the bottom of the side-rear windows and put Sylvania Silverstars (not Ultra's) in the headlights. Hey, it's a start! :D
