Default HID bulbs don't fit in the Sonars.

Okay, so my 9006 HID bulbs will not lock in to the housing of the Sonar projectors.

They're in there really tight, but they won't press in and twist.

I'm thinking it's not a big deal as the bulbs are definitely not going anywhere, but I was hoping someone else had this issue...

had this problem with my non hid 9006 bulbs when i got my sonars...
i just quick dremmeled the housing on the back of the headlights ands the bulbs went in and locked with a twist.

wierd though that you had no problem with the regular 9006 bulbs (i am assuming you had the sonars and used them for a while b4 you modded up to HID's)

Actually, I was running H4 HID in my stock housings but got sick of all the glare, so I bought a set of Sonars and took an old set of 9006 HIDs from my roommate's tC.

Right now they're in there snug, but I'd like to do a bit of work and get them right.

The halo bulbs I was referring to were the ones that came with the projectors.

Yes there would. The H4 bulb does not fit. You need a 9006 base.

This has been around a few times
Try this before you cut your housings
The o-ring that comes with the 9006 hid bulb is to big (dia of rubber/length) use the set of o-rings that came on the 9006 non hid bulbs that were supplied with the sonars.

I have the halogen o-rings on there now. I've been told that if I loosen the three screws around the retension ring I'll be able to twist them down and then retighten the ring.

I took the ring all they way off (before i new about o-ring size issue)
be careful those screws strip out easy and a couple of mine were really tight for such a small screw.
