Default How much for Two tone?

I was quoted about $7000 which includes door jams. This is using whatever colors I want and high quality clear coat.

I'm just curious what others have paid for their two tones.

I could be totally wrong here but $7,000 sounds kinda high.

Is that for a full body paint (i.e. two new colors)?
It depends. If your keeping the stock color on the bottom and doing the top, it's gonna cost more than if you went stock up top and new below (just due to the windows, weatherstripping, etc)

I've been quoted between $4-5,000 for to go up, slightly less to go down (without jambs). Realistically, 7k isn't that far off the mark.

Quality paint jobs aren't cheap.

sounds about right for 2 colors. you could prolly talk them to 6k though. make sure you see some of there work. a bad paint-job is by far the worst thing u can get done to your car, besides totaling it. make sure you talk to the actual painter. n pick out your pinstripe.

good lord! that's a high price for a paint job! I say you google how to paint, buy the equipment, do it yourself and save 4-5 grand for other mods!

^ Unless you're a skilled auto painter, I'd not attempt a DIY two-tone.

I think I've seen enough Learning Channel shows (american chopper, steal your friends ride and hook it up (whatever the name is, etc)) to paint a car with the right tools.....

or i would do a *good enough* job knowing that i only spent a grand as opposed to $5 grand+ on a paint job... the car was 14k to begin with!

PS - what the hell have discovery channel and learning channel turned themselves into? they just show random shows now - nothing you really learn from... =/

i dont think so.... you would need a booth... plus a two tone you would have to match the pattern exactly. i dont think theres such thing as a "good enough" job. its either good, or bad.

lol.... you just said you watch american chopper and know how to paint a car. lmao

Ya I'm the type of person that likes to make sure the job is done right the first time.

If I don't know what the hell I'm doing I'm going to take it to someone who does.

7k is a good price 2 do a complete new 2tone paint job especially if he's painting everything seperately.

7k sounds like a great price if they take everything off, is this including body work, knocking out dents, leveling scratches and chips, as well as any scratches in the jambs and under the hood, a good two tone should have the engine bay either blacked out or appropriately matched, when I do mine, which I will do myself with the help of a painter at work, we will drive it to the tech school, remove the entire interior, as well as the engine and tranny, fenders, doors, hatch, glass, everything, and two tone it all, knock out dents, two tone jambs and the doors all the way to under the trim, the roof everything will be matched, then carefully reinstalled

I asked once and was told around 6k. that was same color on bottom and new on top with strip in between the two.
7k sound about right to me considering most shops want $200 - $300 just to paint a wing.

FYI ... the cost of painting a wing is so much because its not worth it to a lot of shops. Little misc. parts just get in the way. Its much easier to just paint an intire car then a piece here and a piece there. And they dont have to try and blend the paint for a propper finish.

Another reason the price quote is so high is where you live. I know here in the NYC area you can get a car 2 toned with a decent paint job for almost a 3rd that price. Pay a little more and you can have the glass removed for a more professional look. Is it going to be a Chip Foose paint job for 2 grand ... no. But will it look great for a daily driver and win you awards if thats what your into, absolutley.
