Default How To: Removing Stock exhaust Tip! 56k i wouldn't.

Alright, alot of people wish to do it and its not hard at all, but walk-throughs make people more comfortable, so here you go!
first, get your tools together. you will need
1) WD40
2) screwdriver to help get through the bonding between the exhaust tip and the pipe.
3) a hammer. go easy with this, it can dent, but will help get it off!
4) your new tip!

ok starting out, get everything together.

then, get some WD-40 on both sides of the pipe, front and back. especially the back! some people use goo gone too, WD-40 works fine.

Time to start wiggling! your not going to break anything, so twist, left and right, to get things loose!

now, using your screwdriver, carefully push it into the space between the pipe and the tip. this is where dents occur, so be careful! you really only need to do this if you CANNOT get it to move on your own. your just destroying some of the old bond is all, not prying it off, keep that in mind!

once you get it off, it looks like this. hooray!

well, thats no good! stock? ew! time to get your new tip! I went with 3A racing tip $30 bucks from autozone, and i love it! compare, dealer vs. the new tip. or whatever yours is!

install and enjoy!

MUCH BETTER! (make sure it doesn't touch the sides! it get HOT there!)

its easy! there you go! hope this helps at all...

only if this was up a week ago when I did mine. Also note you can bend the tip inners, if you look close at this picture http://img338.imageshack.us/img338/2973/img0819ax3.jpg

you can see this is a 2 piece tip, so using a screwdriver you can bend the crap out of the first piece of metal thats inside the chrome because it's coming off....if that makes sence

asthetic completly. BUT removing the snorkel makes a difference and it costs nothing! the advantage is that i get the look of an expensive catback or such exhuast but it costs 30 instead of 400.
