I want to know how to do something. You know those lift arms that are used on the hatches? I want'em under my hood. I don't mind drilling a couple of holes for a bolt up but I'm no welder. Could someone either
A: point me in the right direction or
B: gimme a run down on the what, the where, and the how on this mod?

Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.

tein has hood struts

 

you want the 13 inch compresses struts from autozone.. for the same $53 you can find them on e-bay in black, with the needed hardware to mount them under the hood, i have seen a few sellers offereing them as "hood struts for scion"... or you can spend an ungodly amount of $$ on the Tein ones, if you are in love with green, and don't have access to any green vinly to overlay them.
you won't have to drill, cut, or mod in anyway, they are direct bolt on..

Not a fan of the green. My xB is a BOP that will soon have a silver two-tone...once I get the cash for it

If I go with a vinyl overlay, I'll find me some silver. The blue never seems to match her well enough.

You say these are direct bolt-ons. I'm 7000 miles from my car right now so I can't really pop the hood and take a look. Do you mean that there are already holes present under there already?

 

used navy blue on my GF....pretty good match too for BOP......mine are silver.......sheet cost $5 a foot did hood damper and hatch dampers. got rid of the green. If you get teins clear coat the ends they rust.

 

I doubt I'll get the Teins. I want something that's affordable to replace when needed. Thanks for the tidbit though!

I tried the Godspeed ones out that you can get on ebay, and they seriousily messed up my hood, just shy of denting from the underside.

You have the Elite version huh? I was looking at that one. Either that or going for the cheaper one and having it painted and clearcoated to colormatch.

 

Warped my hood also! The ones godspeed sells are pure junk, beware!

 

I ended up with the Redline ones. They work great and I enjoy them muchly.

 

I almost bought some of those god speed ones myself. guess i didn't. I do have have an extra set of redlines ones ui'm selling if anyone wnats them.

 

has anyone made a DIY for this? These really don't look that hard to make fore the people on a tight budget
