for information only, this was what i had cut/shave on the usdm bases...
i've talked to couple people who have done this mod, and some of them did not have to cut/shave the usdm bases, so this might not apply to you.

since many of you have pm'ed me, here are some addition info/pictures...
this is about the removal of the mirror glass...

this is what i used to pop the clips off, you have to be patient and work w/ both of your hands.

this is a passenger side mirror, notice the direction of the arrows.

i think the picture is self explanatory...

this is what it looks like from the back, although you can't see it much w/ the mirror cover on it.

couple of side notes:
make sure to masking-tape the edge of the mirror cover so you don't scratch the paint.
take apart the mirror from the base first, then you'll have more view of the clips.
start w/ your jdm mirrors first (most likely they are already scratched up), once you get the first one done, then it'll be easier.

be patient and good luck,
benjamin

you're looking at $250-$300 for a used set, pm MyBoX, that's who i got them from.
it took me about 5 hours total from start to finish, including removing the door/interior panels, and running the extra wires. not including going to the junk yard to find the extra wiring pins for the oem plug.
very frustrating when running the wires through the doors to the interior.
difficulty from 1-10, for me it was a 5, it's not hard, just takes a long time for the first time, i can probably do it under an hour now that i know how.
it was very worth it for me because it's very usefull where i park my car.
