Lambo doors
OK,
this might be a stretch, but I'm considering the idea of converting the tC doors to the lambo-like scissor doors.
Has anybody done this before? How difficult? How expensive? Pros/Cons?
Any input would be helpful, thanks.

There is a link to a Celica kit... $1900 bolt on...

i think many will be attempting to convert the TC doors to lambo doors.
as for the conversion...it should work find...but usually the installers will have to roll in the fenders to make it work properly.
As for cost..i assume it will be between $1200 ~ $1600.
however, lambo doors usually look good on long doors with no window frame. i've seen some conversion on short doors...and they are fugly.
as for TC...the doors are moderate in length, i'll wait to see if anyone attempt its first. cuz i wouldn't want to mess mine up and find out it doesn't work properly...or looks fugly..haha.

Sorry, let me clarify.
Has anybody converted to the lambo doors at all? not just to a tC (I know they haven't come out yet).
I have seen the pics of the other scions that have them, but I'm wondering if anybody out there actually did it themselves........and if they could provide some info.
thanks

well..i've seen it on an xB...and it doesn't look right...not to mention.. u have to squeeze through just to get in the car.
as for more info... chk out vertical doors...they can pretty much do any car, just depends on how much u're willing to spend.

From what ive seen its not that hard of a setup, but i would think that professional help would definitly be needed. Personally, i wouldn't do it. I think the tC is a classy new car and to put something so ricey on it wouldnt look good. For 1600 you might be able to get an intercooled setup for ur s/c.
If i was to put Lambo Style doors on my tC, i'd go all out and get the kit that has remote entry haha. I read that with a push of a button, your door will slide out and up. i find that cool, and not 'rice'
vertical / lambo doors are very cool ... but i worry about the long run. cuz i've heard horror stories ..such as eventual mechanical breakdown of the arms, leaks, and so forth. The cost to fix them start stacking up over few years...
If the tC is anything like the Celica, the doors will be heavy as ____. I saw a guy with lambo doors on his Celica...he fabricated them from a Civic kit. The doors on the Celica are much heavier than a Civic's doors, so the doors need a little bit more strength to lift up. I personally don't like them.

These spectacular carbon fibre doors open in a single elegant motion, first freeing themselves from the body, then swinging upwards and finding rest at a 90 degree angle. They are supported by the masterpiece Koenigsegg hinges, which use two parallel arms that rotate on a geared pivot,
causing the doors to move in an outward arc. Since the hinges are balanced by gas struts, a gentle push is enough to lift the doors. This design requires minimal area around and above the vehicle, giving complete freedom of access to the car in confined areas.

i wouldn't mind the CCR either...
