Default Rear sidemarker replacement...DIY...

I cleared out my rear sidemarkers this week with some trailer lights I found at pep boys...

it was pretty simple. I removed the one 10mm bolt at the wheelwell, unplugged the little red sidemarker and removed it.
I cut the wires to it and connected them to a 194 bulb wire socket (which comes with the pepboys lights).
At first I connected the lights with some double face tape, but it didn't sit as flush to the body as I wanted. So I had an idea and went to home depot and got these little 3inch metal things( I didn't take any pics of them. It's like 3inch long, maybe half inch wide with a hole in the center: [===0===] <--like that). I used 2 for each light and connected them with little nuts and bolts (also home depot). The lights have holes already inside of them so you can screw them onto a body panel, but the hole behind the light is too big for that. I am confusing, so here's a pic of what I mean:

Now they sit flush, and the plastic doubleface tape behind will keep water out.

It's been raining here the last 2 days, so the pics aren't great. Dirty car, etc..
I painted the black area around the inside of the lens area, but the water on it distorts it in the pics.

The 194 bulb is no big deal, either. It's the same size as the front sidemarkers and the plate lights. Don't know if anybody digs this, but thought I'd share.

Good mod. I don't know the size though.

I can dig it Evil! I'm to C.S. to try something like that, so I'll probably just go w/ some overlays, but good job!

JESUS! THAT IS HIDEOUS! You should of got something that matches the body lines. Totally looks out of place.

What body lines are you talking about? ...it's a freakin' box!!

JESUS SAYS: "Huh?..What?...DUDE, I was just going to sleep- and you go and start calling me!! And just to tell me you don't like a freakin' sidemarker on some car! Seriously!!!"

Looks ok if you paint the outside BSP. That looks like the only chrome item on your car, so that is why it gets too much attention.

PS: those tail lites would look hot smoked from the inside. Nice wheels.

Good job on being a pioneer of mods on this one.
