i was thinking about installing a rear view back up camera. any one have experience with them on thier xb? my moms lexus has one and it helps a great deal and i really want one now.

 

never done one, however depending on how much u wanna spend there is a decently cheap one at walmart the camera is in a top license plate mount and comes with a screen.

The best way to do it is remove the wiper and place the camera there. Then wire it to an AV headunit.

 

GOT ONE ON MY BIX...USE TO HAVE THE LICENSE PLATE STYLE..THEN ONE I GOT MY KEWNWOOD DDX-7019 I G TO THE KENWOOD CAMERA AND REMOVED THE REAR WIPER ARM AND MOUNTED IT IN THERE...ALL U SEE IS SMALL HOLE FROM THE OUTSIDE...

 

yep,,, removed wiper and insert camera... its looks sweet at night too... the infrared LEDs match my LED taillights, except not as bright of course.

 

mine is where the wiper was works great it feeds into my HU and lcd in my rear view mirror

I instaled one in my xB and left the rear wiper, my opinion is that the rear wiper is very useful no need to remove. Mine is a very small waterproff camera that is mounted just under the edge of the rear licence plate light area towards the passenger side. It is so hard to see from the outside many people miss it. Gives great visablility in rear and my Alpine IVA-W205 radio alows me to switch it on at any time to check behind me. Great addtion can post photos if anyone is curious.
