Default Rear Wiper Shaving

Does anyone know how much it generally is to shave the rear wiper? Also how long it is, and if it is, or can be, a do it yourself modification?

I'm looking to have the same done, and have gotten a few quotes in the 250-350 range. I guess if you can weld, and have experience with bondo/paint you could do it yourself. It's a lot of work though, since the entire hatch has to be repainted once the hole is filled.

uhhhhh....you can do it for around $5 if you use the search button and aren't willing to get ripped off by your local shop.

Since you are in Arizona, call or email Randy at randode.com

He has shaved his front and rear and it looks great.

For paint go to Chris at Garage Shop Customs to repaint when finished..

Tell them Boomster sent ya

yeah have fun paying out the butt. it's maybe the easiest DIY mod there is and there is a step by step how to with pictures...but if you really like throwing away money go to a shop.

...well...a shop isn't going to take a bolt off holding on the wiper and cover the wiper mount with a plastic dragon tail they're actually going to perform real body work...

I'm thinkin maybe there's some confusion here. Is the OP wanting to simply remove the rear wiper & motor or is he wanting to have the hole filled, sanded and the rear hatch repainted? One I consider a DIY, the other should be done by a shop unless you're skilled in that area. As for me, I removed the wiper and motor myself but paid a shop to the do body work to fill the hole and repaint.

Well there are other ways to fill the hole besides some stupid dragon tail or whatever. The DIY I read was from a guy in my town who filled the hole an and could easily be painted to match and the it still could squirt water at the car behind you. pretty cool and easy mod looked great and would be alot cheaper that having a shop do it.

No offence lonestar, but It sounds like he doesn't want to plug the hole, he wants it shaved.

Everybody knows you can plug it yourself.
We get it.

i shaved my rear wiper myself...it took 2 days to do

if you're gonna have a shop do it tell them that u want a the backing plate adhesively bonded instead of welded....if they weld it the heat will warp the panel

The full shave, fill, and paint looks super!

I had to go the budget route but I think it looks good considering the button cost less than a dollar and I already had matched paint.

Hmmm...just what I said. Fill the hole and paint it to match. Apparently when I say it I don't know what I'm talking about but someone posts pictures and its awesome. go figure.

Dude you never even explained anything, you only said somebody "filled the hole an and....could easily be painted"

Shouldn't we be friendly and helpful instead of scarcastic on the forums?

I've been reading alot of negative responses lately.

"CAN'T WE ALL JUST GET ALONG???"

It's not my job to explain how to's. The information can be found by using the search button, like I said. It's not for everyone and I'm not trying to be an a$$, I'm just saying it can be done yourself, which he asked if there was a DIY.
