Yes it is a cover, each rubber "scraper" is $100 at the dealer. These are laser cut stainless steel and after wiping the rubber clean with rubbing alcohol or a prep solvent you use 3M tape to apply. They will not rust, many other products out there are either "chrome plastic" or steel covered with a chrome sheeting that if scratched will rust.

Bump for a little more information based on feedback from the Gen 2 forum.
.....polished stainless has the same luster as chrome but will not pit, peel, flake off , is not brittle and does not require polishing. Just wipe down with a micro fiber cloth and window cleaner. These trim pieces also protect the rubber from bacterial rot in the South which is common even on new cars...these microbes literally start colonizing the rubber and eating it! In the west the sun just dries it out.
With some gen 1's now being 6 years old this is also a great way to cover window rubber that is cracking with age. Dealer cost is $100 per window rubber. Shipping a set to the Phillipines soon to cover window rubber on an AWD bB.
