side "panel" applique?
Hello Ladies and Gentlemen,
Someone was kind enough to demonstrate their appreciation for my fine toaster by gouging in my door with their keys. I can not tell you how much I appreciate their enthusiasm.
Since I'm too cheap to get my car repainted right now, I was pondering putting on a side appliqué of some type, and just covering the scratch with a rust inhibitor under the applique.
I'm also running low on tires, and was considering doing a "panel" on the side, perhaps creme colored rounded rectangle a few feet tall and running from just after the front wheel to the back of the vehicle (I've got a gray/silver toaster) and getting a set of wide stripe whitewalls to give it that pseudo-vintage look and feel.
Has anyone done anything like this? does it look good?
Other suggestions?
Thanks
-- James

Wow, too bad about the box.
Where do people get off on doing this?
Maybe get some touch up paint and try to build the gouge back out. One, to seal it from rust but also to try and avoid seeing it through the vinyl as much as possible.
Now, about a side panel...

Sorry to hear about the damage to your paint. I like your idea to add graphics over this sore spot. By doing that you won't have to continuosly look at that part of the car and shake your head. Many different graphic themes availible, the Scion is sold as a "Blank Slate" now at the car shows and this really is an appropriate way to describe our cars.
Best luck figuering this out please post some shots when it is done.
