So its like a major snow storm here like I think there is 2 feet of snow in my front yard. Of course I work 3rd shift so none of the roads are plowed.
So some super dense tall snow pile tore the bottom off. The lip broke in the middle then the was dragging by the wheel well. Luckily the radiator didn't get damaged.
I think maybe instead of getting suspension I could get the car painted at Maaco lol maybe get a Release Series color. Would that be wrong? lol
You're going to hate the quality of a Maaco repaint. And I don't think I have to tell you what effect that kind of paint job will have on resale value.
That part is called the spoiler for some reason. Since it is just one panel what I would do is try finding a replacement of the same color. I would not consider repainting the whole car for one panel.
If you look around off the main roads you can find someone to paint a single panel for a reasonable amount. My brother had a single fender painted and matches really well for $160.
You can get the spoiler, which is what Toyota calls it, pre-painted but it's also $350 or so...might not be a bad deal depending upon what a used spoiler and a re-paint might cost. And then there is the issue of paint matching, which a new spoiler may not match 15 year old paint on the rest of the car.
@mrrcom Hi, I am sorry to see the bumper missing in your car. I am imagine that you are devastated. In my area as a rule of thumb, when the snow is more than 2" (inches) I do not drive with Scion xB 2004. The car have lips, have skirts, like is trying to look decent. So will not expose the interior private areas.
This outfit is not working if one is driving in tall snow. If you will look in a junk-yard / car-recycling-center, you may find a cheap front bumper from an unfortunate donor car. I purchase my rear bumper with the lips and LED lights for $150. then the installation labor cost me $75 (in 2020).
I let the car in the parking lot to stay over night. In the morning the snow removal contractor will come and will clean the snow. Then I can drive on clean highway.
Hey guys. So I was thinking I was going to have to get like the whole unit. But you're right its just the lower lip. I see this one on ebay , just a lip. It comes in black and that might not look so bad.
Something else too. The power steering belt is riding off its pulley. I got a new belt but im not sure if is just a bad belt or somehow the power steering pump/pulley got misaligned somehow. The alternator belt doesn't seem to be making any noise or look off so the crank seems to be alright. I've got a heater pointed up under the car to melt some snow and warm my garage.

The snow was super deep maybe 4 to 6 in spots. I was ticked when I thought I had to get the whole front cover but the lip is only $100 and it looks a bit cooler. My neighbors have a couple of cars and I only have one so they can park in my driveway when it snows. The guy is a landscaper and he plows so I get my driveway done for free. thats the only thing ive got going good right now lol
I think when I swapped my motor I never really set the PS belt tension. I didn't want to attempt to remove the pressure hose from the pump so I unbolted the whole pump and bracket. And then I reinstalled it I basically bypassed the tensioning feature, its like the alternator's. But I can't remember if it gave me trouble getting on with the belt so I dunno but I just realized this but the new belt is in per the manual lol
This forced me to get under the car though and I was able to look at the back side of the motor and I'm happy to say there are no oil leaks on the underside of the turbo or its drain in the block the wastegate arm is still in good shape and free to move
Update so I got it running and the loud noise it gone but I can clearly see the pulley is wobbling and its making a slight noise. Hopefully it can wait till i lower the subframe when I replace the rear motor mount
My problem would have been seeing where I was going and maybe having animal parts strewn about under the hood. There were tracks in snow going under the thing. Look, it's an icebox.....

Hopefully the -16 nights are gone. It seems like all the animals are hiding when it gets that cold. I saw some skunks running around on my way home and its like 20 so thats good at least. Maybe in a couple weeks itll be riding weather!
Back in upper 60s here today. I finished my CBD (Covid Be Damned) build last week during all this and actually christened it on a snow ride. 1x9 rigid retro simplicity build. 2006 GT Avalanche 1.0 disc resurrection.
The irony of the bike model and it's 1st ride taking place in snow is comical.
