I looked into it so I could paint the dull reflector with chrome paint. But it looks like the lens is fully adhered with some sort of silicone sealant. And the reflector is a metal casting. It looked like ther was no reasonable way to take them apart and then assemble them again.

So I got a set of JDM fogs instead.

Even if you bake it, it still won't come off?? Like the headlights? Just curious...I've never tried...(don't have foglights yet ).

No, JDM are identical to the OEM ones but they are fully reflectorized. I assumed that you wanted to take the OEM ones apart to get rid of the dull reflector (that is what most people are after).

But you seem to have another motive. What are you looking do do in there?

Well I'm looking to retrofit some OEM fog lights with projectors and finally equipping the fog lights with proper HID projection. I love the way the OEM fog lights look and i love the placement as well. I hate all the other retrofitted locations i've seen. I just want projector fog lights via the OEM housing..

Default OEM Foglights question

Sorry to get off subject but how do you know if the factory foglights are aimed correctly? I put a set in my B and I'm not satisfied with their performance. Any ideas?

Haha. That's true, I never thought about that! How DO you aim them?? I don't believe it's like the headlights were you just use philips head.....you probably just push on the outside......I don't know....huh.

Oh....and if you can't figure it out...and are still dissatified....well...uh....I've been looking for a set..... ;)

There is an "aiming" wheel you can turn to adjust them. Just park up against a wall first to make they look right. Don't expect much difference. They aren't that bright regardless of aim.

As for the projector retrofit, I'd like to see this. IMO it's not really needed. A nice 3000K HID kit would do you just fine.... The lights shine low and wide, so you shouldn't blind anyone. But if you do projectors, I'd still like to see it. Maybe you can buy the ebay fogs and mod those?

Yea..i'm on the prowl for the smallest projectors out there. I have a feeling those tiny 2.5" projectors might work as a retrofit in that oem-life housing. I's have to get the projectors as well as the lights to start modding them. Basically my goal is to have HID fog lights using projectors...i know its a little ridiculous and definitely overkill and i'm seriously surprised if no one else has pulled this off..

Anyone know off-hand what are the smallest projectors with a 9006 bulb configuration?
