Taillight mod idea
Ok, Here's what I've been meaning to do for some time now, and I want some opinions...
I want to open the stock taillight and smoke the red reflector... As opposed to smoking the whole light, just the red stuff in there... That way it's still clear, with smoked/black reflectors inside to match the BSP.
What do ya think? Is it hard is it to open the housing? I heard it's not glued shut, just snapped... Maybe a photoshopper can give me some foresight on how it would look?
Peace

That's nice... I'm gonna try it out... I hope I don't break my tails trying to open them!
Hey Max2k, once the housing is open, are the reflectors and red brake light covers easy to remove and put back? Or are they glued down?
Thanks

To open the tail lights:
1. Remove from car.
2. Remove the bulbs and circuit strip thing
3. Stick them in the oven for 5 minutes at 250 degrees
4. While wearing thick gloves (the plastic gets damn hot!), use a flathead screwdriver or other such impliment to pry up the tabs on the top of the tail lights, starting with the outer ones and then doing the inner ones. The outer edge should pop out all at once, then pull the tabs on the inner ones up one at a time and rotate the lens upward, releasing the bottom tabs.
"Outer" refers to the edge away from the hatch and vice versa.
The Don: they're quite easy, but you have to break a small piece of plastic to get the reflectors loose. Fortunately you can just glue it back down with hot glue.
