For those of you who have one, or have seen one in person-

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...RK%3AMEWA%3AIT

Are the side scoops functional? Or easily made functional w/o detracting from the appearance?

I see possibilities of using one to make the stock intake into a cold air intake... Yeh, I know there are other ways, but I'd like to keep the intake opening up off of the hot pavement in the summer...

I'm open to other sources, natch, particularly scionlife sponsors...

Thanks!

$26.95 to ship an item of that size and weight is outrageous!!!

You're confusing a ram air intake vs. cold air.

I don't have this grille, but see no problems in drilling a hold in the fronnt of it ;)

Except for the fact your engine compartment is going to look like hurricane Katrina went through it.

i bought one... they are made by abs dynamics i think, because they have the same picture as abs dynamics has on their site. for some reason they are selling them for dirt cheap on ebay... on their website they go for 90 bucks! i'll let you know the quality when i get it in.

FYI - If I remember correctly, there are fitment issues with that grill.

I have it. The only fitment problems i had w/ that grill was when i put in projector headlights.. The bottom holes are to small..... Other than that No problem w/ it.

I had that grill, sold it and got the one with the halo driving lights in it. the middle tab never lined up for me on the grill but it didn't matter. It was a tight fit but a nice looking grill.

well not considering that you can buy it now for 20 bucks... that's only like 46 dollars for a nice grill. i got mine in today, looks sweet. i was expecting the mesh to be metal though... it's plastic! still looks fantastic but there are molding lines around the side air dams and i did have to drill out the center hole to make it fit right.

i'm actually thinking of cutting out the mesh... think it would look neat?

if you cut it out do you plan on replacing it with another mesh? or just leave it open? personally I wouldn't leave it open. Maybe some mirror acrylic would look cool instead of the mesh.

the mesh seems to clash a bit with the lower grills... so replaceing might be a good idea. i wonder how it would look open though.

The part I really want to understand is the side scoops... anybody help me out with that? are they open, and if so, what size openings? Could I get an opening on one side of 4 or 5 square inches without uglifying the whole thing?

Yeh, the whole price vs shipping deal is weird, and I don't really like that, but the bottom line is good... if it'll do what I want.
