That part was black plastic that I had to paint to match.

All I can say is be careful.....I did mine this weekend...There are two spots; 1 as big as a silver dollar and the other about penny size....they look like the factory just stopped wet sanding or didn't polish/wax all the way.....So just be careful! Overall...VERY VERY VERY SIMPLE!! PM if you need anything!

Default BOP de-taped

Since I haven't seen any BOP's in this thread, I thought I'd throw mine in here. As the last few posts above have stated, it's very easy! If the car's been in the sun and is warm, it's even easier. Or you could just use a heat gun.

Mine had those kinda spots too. The factory didn't worry about them because of the black crap. I just hit them with a little 2000 grit and polished them to match. The hardest part is when you get to the bottom portion.

Okay, so I took the tape/vinyl off the driver window, and it looks alot better, even my mom was like ooooh I like it...haha. But I got a little bit of tape at the bottom that I cant seem to get out, even with tweezers. Any ideas?

My only concern with removing the tape on a black (which doesn't come with tape?) or a blue, or any dark color is finger and hand smears from people closing the door. I keep my black '95 Impala SS pretty spotless and taught my family and close friends to try to use the black rubber strip that runs along the bottom of the window where it meets the pillar to close the door. As soon as someone "un-initiated" goes for a ride and closes the door, there are always hand prints up and down the pillar that are VERY noticable against the rest of thedeep, black shine of the rest of the car.

So far, with the xB, I haven't noticed any greasy hand smears on the tape on the pillars from any passengers closing the door. I like the look of just the door pillars exposed rather than the whole door frame, but maybe the tape is cleaner.

Pretty ****, huh?

but the handprints are easyer to wipe off the paint than they are to wipe off the tape, if they are on the tape too long, they stain it (like mine)

Ahhhh... that's what I was wondering, 'cause so far I haven't seen any prints on the tape. If the tape picks up the prints as well (and if they are more prone to linger) it'd definitely be easier to wipe 'em off the paint.

It's gonna be like 88 degrees or something here in Pittsburgh over the weekend - might be a good time to try some removal. I just don't want to uncover any scratches or anything.

Wouldn't it be awesome if the tape was functional and it was there so that finger prints wiped off easier when closing the door?

Sorry to repeat my question, but in case anyone missed it and knows the answer, I'm trying to get the bottom piece of tape (closest to the handle) to come out of the little crack. It won't come out (and my finger hurt), any suggestions?

get a butter knife or Plastic putty knife, pull the moulding back, and tuck the vinyl under the moulding :D thats what I did, and no problems yet

Hmmm, butterknife might work. I was going to use a razor to cut it. But I was right about to cut and I noticed how the holder was too thick and was about to dig into the paint. So I figured not. I'll just use the tweezers to kind of stuff it int there or pull it out. I just hate moving things around, next thing you know they're loose or falling off.

I took the tape off of my RS3, but now I have the carbon fiber appliques. You can still see some of the green exposed.

Nice. I thought about the CF pillars but thought it would throw the look off.
