you ever gonna be in FL to do mine
Painting a car flat black and throwing on some pin striping does not make it a rat rod. I hate the term rat rod, but an xB won't even qualify for that horrible term for another 50 years.
No offense to you "striperjake." The "old skool" striping on the xB doesn't bother me a bit. Not a big fan of the striping along the skirts, but the accent stripe in your last shot looks nice.

I was actually talking about a 95 nissan hardbody. Notice I said my mini, not my scion. Lets not jump all over someone because of a term. As a mtter of fact, I am huge into the rockabilly/psychobilly scene, and I know what a rat rod is. and spending $10,000 buying a classic car to turn into a rod isnt exactly low budget...
Not trying to jump all over anyone. I just get sick of popular media bastardizing terms and people getting total misconceptions of what different styles really are, and how they apply.
I have a '99 Dakota R/T myself, that I planned to do in suede black with red and white stiping myself. That was in 2001-2002 though. I wouldn't even consider going with that color scheme today. I just posted pix of the truck from a few years back in another thread.
And I don't have to be in the Rockabilly/Psychobilly scene to enjoy a budget built hot rod. I read Deluxe, Popular Hot Rodding, Ol' Skool Rods, Rolls and Pleats and all the rest. I'm also in the process of helping my brother acquire the parts and build a '27 Chevy Cabriolet. So far he hasn't even spent $400. Everything else is coming in trade. That is how "rat rods" are built. In your garage, with friends. Using the parts and skills you can round up. Not by some media ***** named Boyd with a bunch of employees.

Thanx guys for the feed back and compliments. I agree with all of you. I'm not trying to make my xB into a so called rat rod. In fact, just the opposite. I want some of the old school look AND new school look. I like anything to do with cars and bikes. I'd own one of each make and model if I could as most of us on this board would.
I love the old school striping and do a lot of it on just about every kind of car and motorcylce you can imagine. I'm also working with a new comapny on some cutting edge NEW technology that has never been used in the automotive industry. I'll post pics when I have em and see what everyone thinks.
Keep stretching your box and coing up with new stuff.
