that looks awesome except that they are hideous amber. all that work to keep an amber color? id go hyper white but that might just be me. whats the cost on that. would he be interested in making those led grids with hyper white leds?

the problem with white leds is

1) they are really expensive and very hard to find in a grid that big

2) they dont shine white ... they are more of a blueish white

i dont need to be harassed by the cops for blue lights... these things are going to attract enough attention as it is .. dont need to add to it

So this is an HID retro, right? Not just a halogen projector? Looks great. Someone should mass produce something like that.

Where is hawkeye? He should be prancing around like a cheerleader that someone did this his way. :D

hawkeye, if you're reading this...I'm just teasin' you. :D

the reason these wont be mass produced is because of COST and the fact that its an extremely tough thing to do and do right

here is a breakdown of what it cost me for parts

225 - ECE valeo D2s clear lense projectors
60 - D2s phillps bulbs
250 - Brand new set of headlights
125 - ballasts
300 - labor
45 - led grids

and i got the chrome trim rings for the projectors from my friend - they came from bmw Z8 headlights

then misc shipping costs

and yes to answer the question .. this is the REAL DEAL hid .. no halogen ... this is as good as it gets

is it reallyt too much .. peolel drop 4-500 on a crappy hid kit that does nothing but give you a crappy glary beam pattern ... crappy parts and reliability .. only decent in a kit is usually the ballasts

the bulbs are rebased junk from asia .. ure hard pressed to find genuined phillips or OSRAM bulbs in a kit ... not to mention the cost of replacing the parts is super expensive... where as my oem stuff is a dime a dozen

also 90% of my driving is night driving .. so its worth every penny .. frankly ... dropping 1g on lights is FAR MORE beneficial that getting some JDM rims or JDM kit ... it looks cool and it actually serves a purpose .. making the road safer for me

i dont expect very many people to go through with a retro .. but the last 3 cars i have had .. have had em .. and i will continue to have em done ... once u go TRUE HID .. u dont go back
