Default Will an aftermarket short shifter help this......

I have a problem When I give my wife the xB to drive she is have issues finding 1st gear. Her throw is in the 1st shift point but somehow she ends up in third gear. (Side-Bar: How come you can start off in 3rd but not 2nd gear?) Any way what I had to know is would install a short shifter correct or make other issuses out of this? I need Help

Umm, teach your wife how to drive again.

Tell her when she wants to shift into first, to push up on the shifter WHILE pulling it over to the left.

I guess I'm explain it my question this way; The gap between 1st and 3rd is it smaller using a short throw aftermarket kit shift?

no, the throw is just shorter. Personally, I have never even mishifted the xB, it's the easiest car to drive.
