Default Window diffusers? JDM or Domestic...?

Hey guys, I have a little extra money to spare that I can spend on the box and I've been noticing alot of guys on here have these wind diffusers. What exactly are they used for? Plus on some scion parts shops, they say its the JDM version. So as I would expect everyone to prefer the JDM version the most (duh) but what are the differences in the 2 also? Thanks for the info guys and the help....I just want to make sure this would be a worth while investment or if its just for looks?
Pic for reference!

I used to have them and hated them. I had VentVisors. They are in-channel so they are a cleaner install but look like poo, if you ask me.

Heres a pic of the JDM E'sams vent visors. They are used to deflect wind from coming into the car so much. Also on hot days you can crack your windows and not worry about rain coming into your car. They also look cool IMO.

vouch for the e'sams.... they work wonderfully.. esp because of how the part curves inward... airflow is awesome. been in cars with them and it's just great.

Yes thats my old xB I had the CF kenstyle front and regular sides and rear.

Also one thing the Esams have are clips and a rubber piece that stops water from coming up into the car... Another JDM choice would be the Toyota OEM ones...you can get either one at

newscionparts.com highly recommend that site Also thanks for the comments guys...loved my box.

oh yeah i seen some replica esam's for half the price so if money is a problem get those. they look pretty good. there's a few things that make it different from the orig. esam.

so these really are only handy when I need to just "crack" my windows...I usually drive around all the time with all my windows down and didn't know how much different the 'wind noise' would be if I had these. I like them, then at times when I see them they make the car look funky- still deciding, but thank you guys for the help so far. Im sure this should help answer more questions others may have later.

well if you always drive with the windows down these are good when it's raining and you want some fresh to come in without the rain.

i have the E'sam style visors too, and in comparison the domestic versions are laughable. these things are SOLID, and very dark. I constantly thank myself for buying them when the sun is about 2 hours from setting.

Also, something i've noticed is that if you roll all the windows down and then bring them back up about three inches or so, there is very little wind thru the cabin even at highway speeds, just a nice breeze. It's also nice to be able to crack the rear windows while parked on hot days - totally stealth. I just love mine.

I have the Wade wind deflectors, and like 'em, particularly for $52 shipped... they were easy to install, too.

They help suck cigarette smoke out while driving, and also help to keep the interior temp down when parked... I drop the windows about an inch when I'm parked in the lot at work... with no rain worries... hasn't rained enough around here recently to tell how well they keep it out when driving.

Spring for the esams or the high end knockoffs only if you don't have anything better to do with the cash difference...

i was looking at the wades initially, and I thought the people who spent all that cash on the big 'ol JDM style visors were crazy. But there they were, going on and on about how great they were.

I gotta say that now, I know where they were coming from. I'm glad i opened up my wallet - they are very thick (about 1/8") and almost opaque. After looking the wades over, I know that they wouldn't cut down the sun nearly as well as the esam style.

of course, since i don't smoke, I envisioned them functioning as sun visors, and they fit the bill nicely. i guess when all ya gots a hammer, everything starts to look like nails.
