Wiper sizes ?
Hello, sorry for maybe unnecessary post but I'm clueless where to check the wipers sizes. I checked "search" but no one else asked this before. I want to change all 3 wipers. Do I just go outside and measure the length of them ? My local store doesn't have Scion in the book to check bein a Canadian.

Most people end up finding a combination fo 19" for driver and 18" for passenger even though the book size is 20" for both.
Personally, I just got the blade/arm combo and replaced both fronts with 15" blade/arm. I think it looks better, sits better (no 'no-contact' areas where the blade does not rest on the glass) and works 95% as well (my blades miss the top 1" of the glass, but I dont care...I live in San Diego and rain barely exists here).
It is a lot easier to buy a set of 15" blades than having to buy 2 sets. I also found generic blade refills (just cut to your desired size) at Big Lots for $1.20 a set!

For the rear, if you can find wiper blade refills, pretty much any size will work given a little work with wire cutters. Failing that, buy a wiper blade from which the blade can be removed, and carefully take it apart, and use the blade in the existing wiper arm. The blade I have on now is about 1.5" longer than the original blade, so it covers a bit more of the back window.
For the fronts, I have a pair of 20" Bosch Icons, and in a couple years when they need to be replaced, I'll get 18"s or so. 20"s are just a bit bigger than is really warranted.

I got 19" and 18" for the front as few ppl recomended. As far as the back I measured it's 12" but my local auto store didn't have blade replacement, so I'll look around a little more and when it gets a little warmer I'll go outside and take the back apart to see how it's mounted.

The back blade is hard to find a replacement. The easiest and cheapest thing to do is to head up to your local dealer and ask for an insert. It is just the rubber blade itself. the blade comes apart into 2 piece and then you take the small metal pieces from the existing blade and put them in the new insert. By the way the insert shouldn't be more then $10 probably around $6. Hope this helps. You can do this for the fronts as well.

Yes, but being in Canada and not having scions here I don't think they should have a replacement wiper for the back. Might b wrong, it would b sweet if they do, but doubt it.

bump to this thread, but yes just changed my blades to the normal 20" and it is annoying that the right side flaps around with the extra 3 inches, sometimes leaving strange streaks, going to run the 17" next time around.

Anyone know of a replacement arm for the rear XB 2006, one that has a spring to hold the blade closer to the window and is 1" longer than our 12" blade? I'm sure the rear window arm of some other make of car would fit.
Thanks,
Kerry
P.S. Reminder about replacement blades. Blades with silicone impregnated into the rubber leave a film of silicone on the windshield that's quite noticeable at night. It causes considerable light refraction. Glass polish (a toothpaste-like pumice) removes the film and water spots.
