Default xB Bike rack options

Just wondering what folks have done for take bikes on trips with your xB. I was thinking that adding a hitch rack would work since it doesn't weigh that much. Then I got to thinking about installing one and that didn't appeal much.

Then I thought about the roof rack and wasn't entirely sure I'd want to hoist bikes up on the roof after a long.

Any ideas about be much appreciated. Thanks.

I think the only commercially, readily available system will be a roof rack. Most manufacturers hitch mounts will work as well, if you can find a hitch.

I know you can use the Q Towers from Yakima in conjunction with any of their bike mounting systems. Probably run you around $300+, and no drilling into the roof.

Thule also has roof options available. Pricing for their products should be right around the same, depending on what you choose.

I have a universal bike rack made by Allen. Model # is 103A, and the cost was less than $100. It has straps that hook to the top, and bottom of your rear door, and is very easy to put on, or take off as needed. It will hold up to 3 bikes. I found it at a local bike shop here where I live, but you can probably find it on line too. Try to Google bike racks, and I bet you'll find it. Hope this helps.

How about a fork mount on a 2x4 inside. Kind of ghetto but cheap and sturdy

Some bikes won't fit inside. Yep, even if you take off the front wheel. I don't even know if my bike would fit on a standard roof rack. I might have to get a tandem mount to get mine to work.

In case you are wondering, this is the bike that I have...

It might stick out a little, but Performance Bike makes a rear mount that works great.

I have 2 cannondale road bikes that I put on the back of my box all the time and have never had a problem, also it goes on and off in a couple of minutes.
