Question Yakima Roof Rack Noob Question

Hope this is the right area, and my apologies, this is probably a dumb question, but are the yakima setups model-specific? or do I just need the q-towers, bars, etc and they're pretty much universal?

I don't want to up and buy something off craigslist that doesn't even fit!
Thanks!

The q towers are universal, the bars need to be long enough to span the roof. The thing that makes the rack model specific are the q clips.

haha, yeah, I respect that, but I kind of like the rally-esque look it gives, and also not blocking the hatch. Trying to get the most practical setup for a Tex - Yosemite run ( and hopefully Alaska soon! )

On the down side I don't want the small mpg drop i'm anticipating, and I know loading bikes atop a normal height xB isn't the worst, but probably not the most fun thing in the world.

And completely unrelated but while its on my mind, will larger tires improve MPG as I've heard on here, or is that myth?
Larger tires seem harder to move... but less rotations to go...

Thanks!
