Default $200/month for Insurance

I just got my call from Mr. McNair, and he quoted me $2400 a year. Does that sound right?? It may be, it is about $200/month, but my car payments are about 30 dollars more... . I am a 16yr old African American male, I think that is the worst place to be in when it comes to insurance, lol

Check out State Farm. They have a Good Grades insurance plan or whatever they call it. Saved me $15/mo. Also, make sure your insurer considers the xB as a VAN (make sure you see it on paper too). The VAN status will lower your insurance. Some insurance agencies still consider the xB as an SUV

You're 16. It doesn't matter. Your rates will be hellish no matter who you go with.

Unfortunately, the xB fall in the Utility category. So, we are basically paying the more for a smaller vehicle. Fortunately for me, I'm in "good" driver status and I'm 39.

Yeah, I've seen the xB labeled microvan, wagon, and suv. In these parts an suv has lower rates because the driver is "safer" in a crash. Lawmakers are working to reverse that, since the suv is typically the cause of the nastier injuries to others.

I had Allstate when I was younger, had good rates, but found out later that the agent "accidentally" put me as having a daughter and the little tercel wagon as having abs to lower the rate, so he could keep my business.

I can't imagine paying so much for just insurance at that age, but I have a feeling that a 16yo getting a new scion isn't paying for the insurance either, or you guys must be mowing a LOT of yards right? :D

I am paying about $300 every six months. I have USAA though, and am 31. They list it as a Utility vehicle as well.

Lol, yeah there are NO xB's on the road at all. I have seen an xA that has the 18" wheels with no lowering springs, that thing looks like it is hovering :D . Back in Feb they were selling like candy, Arkansas is the closest state to Miss, and Missouri, and Kansas (who at that time did not have the Scion yet). So all the xB and RS's they sold drove right over the state line . But I like the idea of being the first Camo green driver in NW Arkansas. My dealer just sold the Camo i was planning on buying, to some one named Thomas and I do not know where he lives. If he lives around my area he may have beaten me to it .

WTH, USAA is charging me double that, and I have a spotless driving record going back to the Reagan era ... I guess that's the price of living in the great state of California.

I am 31, my wife is 25 and we have three kids. I don't know if that helps it or not. My rate is actually lower than my Sephia was.

The poor kid has 2 strikes against him ... hes a guy, and hes 16. Dont look for your rates to change for the better until your late 20s.

When i was a teen, i was paying about $90 a month for insurance. Course it helps that i was driving a '78 Nova, but who cares, it was a set of wheels.

I'm 21, male & married... I have 2 cars. A 1986 Grand Prix that I only have Liability on, and a 1996 Oldsmobile Bravada that I have full coverage on with a $500 deductable. Right now, my monthly payments on my plan (covering my myself & my wife) are $154. After I get take delivery of my '05 xB (6-8 weeks from 06-30-04), my Grand Prix is coming off of the policy, and the box will recieve full coverage, and my monthly payment will be right around $180.

Also, I use Allstate in Illinois, and they consider the xB to be a Wagon.
