Whoa! Got a letter in the mail the other day for taxes on my xB. They claimed the value of the car was $26,000!!! Sending proof tomorrow that the car was purchased for only $16,000ish. Where the heck did they get this other $10,000 from!? Thought it was absolutely crazy, just wanted to share.

What kind of tax is that, where you get billed later by mail? (Just curious; in PA we pay sales tax at time of purchase and that's it.)

even in PA, if you buy a car at 80% or less than it's blue book value, they will send you something in the mail asking you to prove that you paid that much and what was the reason why it was so cheap. it happened to me twice. once when i bought my explorer and once when i bought a mazda mx6. a lot of people were lying to get around paying the full sales tax amount.

 

Yeah.... Unfortunatly, the government has decided to save resources and combine the two so youhave the benifit of being taxed to death.

MAN!!! I just got my tax notice from Stanly County and my Xb was valued at 10990 to a grand total of $82.15 for county and fire.

I kinda laugh. After my friend got all his stuff from the dealership and they even worked his set of rims into the payment, his cost came out to 22,000. And this is alll covered by the dealership and part of his payment.

 

Propert Tax....i only pay a property tax on my house....not my car.

 

Did you ask them if they want to buy it? You could get some nice
upgrades on a new one for that.
