**xB Bad Mileage Problem Solved!!**
After years of trying to figure what killed my MPG on my 2005 xB, I've finally figured it out!
It was so simple but no one ever suggested it on any of the Scion forums.
It's my new product call the Gas Buddy...just kidding .
Anyways, a few years ago I suddenly lost about 30-40 miles to a full tank.
Complete mystery. I did everything to get the mileage back but nothing worked.
I tried decarbonizing the cylinders, desludging, replacing the PCV, Seafoam, 0w-20 synthetic, and on and on.
So a few weeks ago, I decided to do a tune up since it's been 50000 miles since the last one. I bought an air filter and some new spark plugs.
When I took out my old plugs, I forgot that I bought NGK Platinums for my last tune up.
This time, I bought the OEM copper NGK plugs. I gapped the plugs and put in the copper NGKs.
Ever since I've replaced the plugs, my mileage has shot up from 320 miles back to 360 mile for a full tank. I've filled up 3 times without a decrease in mileage.
So many people have the sudden drop in mileage, but I've never seen a solution.
Anyhow, that's it. Go back to the stock OEM copper NGK - BKR5EYA.
So if you're only making around 300 miles to a full tank, try swapping back to the OEM NGK copper plugs. It'll only cost about $10 for all 4 plugs.
Let me know if this tip works for you.
