*My first Box, and new to the Box community! ;)*
Sup everyone, I just picked up my first Scion xB (04 black cherry pearl color) and so this thing is really growing on me. Now I see why so many people have these cars and love fixing them up.
So I had a few questions and was wondering if you guys could give me some help. First off the car came with silver tribal graphics all over it and some hideous skinny chrome 17" rims!! I'm currently in the process of removing the graphics and it's been a nightmare!! As for the rims, I have some nice 16x8 501'a coming in tomorrow so that'll fix the nasty chrome wheel issue.
Now here is the part I need advice from you guys on. The car also came with some Scion aftermarket red steering wheel, it looks very nice and feels great....but man, that RED is just too much for me. Is this a stock option, and if so...is it easy to replace? Do they have the same wheel but in black/grey??
And lastly it also has some gross obx red pedal covers...are those easy to remove as well?? They don't look like simple bolt on ones I can remove?? Your help is much appreciate! I'll also try to get some pics up of the graphics and the removal process so you can see the hell I've been goign through!

Congrats on getting a box.
The red wheel is a toyota (scion) option ans id pretty easy to replace if you are just a little machanically inclined and does come in black and gray also.
The obx pedal covers should just come off using your hands, but there will be only the metal plate ther left when you take them off you will need to get the stock rubber covers or another set of aftermarket padals to finish them off.

Thanks for the info on the wheel and pedals, can you guys also help me on how to use the search function on this forum??
For some reason it never returns the results I want. If I chose a specific forum like classifieds, it won't return anything. If I keep ALL forums, it returns a lot of useless junk mixed in with what I was looking for? Any advice?

I have a grey and black leather wheel and it's very nice - do not go back to the stock wheel. Even if you don't like the red it is much better than the stock plastic wheel.
I agree with you on the pedals though... red wouldn't be my first choice. Silver or black would look nice.

I read on here you can dye it black and it takes pretty well-real leather and all.
I think gothbox was the one who said it. Look for photos of the grey one before you decide to go that way for sure-the stock wheel is all one color (dark grey-almost black) and pretty comfy-personally I would trade you in a second but can't be without my car and I don't think we live very close.
The pedal covers are held on by the rubber trim-start at a corner and start peeling back

I have a stock wheel if you need one. Not like i'm going to put it back on. A stock steering wheel new will cost over 250 dollars though... if you want it i'm sure we can work something out pricewise.

Got pics of it with the chrome wheels? Hopefully the graphics weren't on there long. Otherwise your paint will have a ghost flame look when they are removed. The paint under the vinyl will be un faded.
The red wheel can be masked up and sprayed with grey or silver. My old wheel was red and is now silver. Just wipe it down good with rubbing alcohol before dying. Also, be sure to remove it first and to use good 3M green tape when masking it. Duplicolor vinyl dye works perfect. Be sure to spray 3-4 thin coats.

Anyway, welcome!
Anyway, welcome!
But to me it's a little ricey...and back in our generation anyone that did "light" modifications were laughed at on the streets and track. So maybe it's just my old fart bias from the import racing hay-days....but don't mind me, do what you like with your car as long as it makes you happy! ;)

As for the ghost flames, the stickers have been on the car since 04 because that was a sticker package the original owner asked and actually PAID for!!!
Quick question regarding the rubbing issues....because of this I actually decided to go with a +15 offset to have a more flush rim. Are you guys saying it will rub with 16x8's with a 15 et?? I hope not, because I want to lower it a tad bit after the de-ricing project is over.

BTW - Thanks for the steering wheel painting advice, I think I'll give that a shot since it'll be the cheapest option.
i have the black 16x8 15 offset with 195/50/16 falken 912
when i first put them on i had s-tech springs with 10mm hub spacers and the back rubbed so bad i had smoke comming out of my wheel wells, the front is not an issue, never has been.
first off the hub spacers had to go.
i took everthing out of the back and it went away for the most part. about a week after that i installed my Tein SS coilovers so i was able to rase it up a little untill i put my -3 camber on.
even with that ............ at hightway speeds i would still rub a tad bit every now and then.
so i gat a Eastwood fender roller off ebay, used it and then just turned around and resold it, i only lost like $50.
i no longer EVER have any rubbing issues
this is befor camber with out fenders rolled, with nothing in the back and noone in the car

the next 2 is with camber without fenders rolled, alos "nothing" in the back and noone inthe car.

and thease last pics are with the fenders rolled

and this is with "alot" of stuff in the back & driver + 1 passenger

no more rubbing, "EVER"
