Just visited the new scion site and have made some observations for the 06' models
1. Pass door has more window controls
2. Sunvisors look improved
3. New Dome Light Design
4. 3 New Hubcap Designs
Only the xA got the new Salsa Red Pearl paint so far

06' owners please report how the new design domelight works. thanks!

 

The most important inprovement, the large volume **** on the stock stero.
I wish I could swap out my 05 stock stero.

Yeah, the site didn't allow you to get a closeup veiw of the new HU so I didn't even know about that improvement.

 

Do you have pics of the dome light? I couldnt find any pics of the passenger door having more window controls .......

 

Go to the scion site and it allows you to do a 360 deg. of the entire interior. Thats how I found all these new things.

 

My sales person said the '06 has a 6 cd changer. I sorta doubted it but I didn't say anything, so when it gets in I'll ask him where the changer is?

BTW, I am a soon to be new owner of an Xb :D .

I have been lurking here for a while, I am impressed with the following the Scions are getting.

I have learned a lot already about the Xb and all the DIY stuff that I can do and save some money.

The salesman was wrong. There is no 6-disc changer available for the 06's. That option was replaced by the ipod option.

 

It may just be that the reversed the driver's side door....

I highly doubt that the would add more window controlls....

As for the dome light, I remember seeing that when i bought my xB over a year ago.....

 

I'm mostly curious on how the new dome light works and if the pass side door has more window controls. Can someone with an 06' confim or deny it please?

The passenger side door in front just has controls for its own window and door, none others. Probably a mistake in the 360* thing on the Scion site.

The dome light is completely unremarkable, to me. It works like every dome light I've ever used... three position switch gives you "On", "Off", and "Door." No big whoop if you ask me! LOL

The stock headunit has an AUX input with a jack for a miniplug down by the e-brake. Works fine, I find the sound quality acceptable with my iPod mini. Should also work with any MP3 player that can do a minplug out (i.e. almost all of them, I assume). Far better, however, is the upgrade iPod headunit that allows you to charge/control your iPod... waaaaaay cleaner than having to have a charger in your cigarette lighter, minplug in your AUW jack, etc. I'm getting the upgraded headunit installed on Tuesday, and am planning to do a custom dock install in the small "glovebox" underneath the A/C controls. Should be clean and totally stealth...exactly what I'm looking for. Don't want someone breaking a window to steal my iPod... the window probably costs more to replace than the iPod! LOL

Boxista, Does the dome light have 2 seperate bulbs and does it give good light? I replaced my 05' one for an aftermarket one from autozone so you could actually see. I also added an extra one between the sunvisors to be able to read maps and such.

is the salsa red color the same as xAs rs 1?

 

The pics I saw are the ones you see when you do the 360 degree look of the interior on the Scion site. My tails are the first generation TYCs from Japan. I got them second hand from bBism and they are not available anymore new.

 

Salsa red is the red on the xA on the first page of the Scion site. The rs1.0 xA is a solid bright red

Well the dome light sucks in my 06, so if its better Id hate to see the other one. Just does not give off even kinda enough light. I really want to upgrade it somehow or add another on in the back.

As for the ipod raido I love it. I also have the sirius reciever so with just a touch of a button I can play fm, satelite or ipod. All integrated nice and neat. The worst thing of the ipod is that the ipod controller cable is only 12" long. Kinda sucks so to move it somewhere else you will also have to move the ipod jack itself.

The worst part of the sirius is that it trunks the name field to 10 characters where as the ipod goes all the way across. I really hate that.


Oh and my kids absolutely love the color changing on the radio all the time, set it to random and it just sits and cycles through colors, they love that.

 

Yeah, has anyone found a way to tap some foot lighting under the dash? I think that would be a good factory change and very cheap too. Yeah, i have to agree, I have an 05 xB and i installed the 06 iPod HU, and i love the new turn dials, but my iPod connector had to be done with an aftermarket unit from Peripheral, and its run through the little cubby box. SWEET!

 

foot well lighting is very easy...
it is the underdash lighting option.

or you can DIY...

cold cathode lights wired to the door switch or manually.
