2005 xB 175K miles - worth buing for $3k???
I've always been a fan of xB's and have the opportunity to buy one that was used as a salesman's vehicle for a company owned by a family friend. He said it has been maintained and recently had some work done to it (i'll find out the specifics when i look at it today)
I was wondering if anyone has an xB with high mileage, if there are any known issues that arise, or if this thing will rock over 200k+ miles like most toyotas?
The kbb is over $6k but that price isn't reliable since the same price is returned on their site if i put 175k or 300k miles - so I'd figure I'd ask some real experts their opioion! Thanks!

That would be a good one to get. From what I've seen, the motor has been proven for over 300K on many vehicles. Check the body for severe damage of any kind and get a carfax report if you don't trust the guy who's selling it.
if the body is good and the carfax report comes back good.. i would buy it.. i mean.. 3 grand?? even if you only get 50 thousand miles out of it for some odd reason.. that is well worth it.
For 3K I'll take it!!
Body and interior are key, beyond that the motor if it has had service done should be fine for 50K or more with no (or minimal) hassles just do the maint as needed and use synthetic oil. If it's an auto ask about tranny service and consider a fluid & filter change there. Shocks & struts may need to be swapped if they have been neglected but all in all what else can you get for $3K that is comparable? Used car values seem to be going up as new car sales slow!

Well it turns out I'm not going to be able to get it for $3000...I talked him down to $2500!!!
...and the mileage isn't 175k...it's 165k!!!
I'm always wary of too good to be true deals but I'm gonna keep my fingers crossed.
The windshield is cracked so that's gonna run me around $300 from what I gather.
The interior is super clean, the body is solid, and it runs fine from what I could tell during my little test drive-a-roo. (I heard the hatch rattlin a bit and a little brake squeak is all)
I'm gonna pick it up this afternoon and will post pics as soon as I can.
THANK YOU everyone for your comments - this xB n00b appreciates your help!
