Question 2005 xB rear wiper assembly

Hello,
I recently bought my xB from my sister and the rear wiper assembly is broken (arm is good but the part that the rubber strip attaches to is all cracked). i was searching all over and I found this part number: 85240-52010 which is called "BLADE ASSY, REAR WIPE"

I do not want to remove the rear wiper (useful on salty winter roads)..

Does anybody know if the part I need is the part number above? if not, is this part available or do I have to buy the entire arm to get this part? the broken part did pop right off I am hoping its available.. lots of people have removed, does anybody have this assembly to sell?

Thanks!

Yup, that's the correct number. You can either replace just the wiper rubber, or the whole arm assembly if you break it. Just like I did also when I was washing my car on day !!

It ain't cheap either !!!

It might be a little hard to get the old arm off the motor shaft as they tend to rust together. A little LPS will help.

Thank for the response, I found the part on a few sites, I will have to order the part. I managed to get the broken arm off yesterday so I should be in business.

Thanks Again!

You might be able to find a used one since alot of people took off the rear wiper.

This arm is one of my next mod efforts.... I need to get a generic front wiper arm from someplace then try to remove the 12 inches or so from the arm and figure out a mounting method to the rear arm on the xB.... Logic says it will work...but have to see...

Default Follow Up...

Hi,

Am letting the final paint dry on my Rear Wiper Conversion to standard wiper blades mod....

I wrote up a DIY with pen & paper, but site won't let me post it as a DIY for some reason....

Bottom line is that I can now use standard wiper blades on my rear wiper. I have a 13 inch blade on now, tho 12 inch would be fine too.

Be happy to FAX my notes to you....

Dave

I did a DIY on my conversion of the rear wiper arm....

Timewise it was several hours, including a trip to the junkyard.... I tried to do the DIY in an effort to save time should someone want to do a similiar conversion.... Actual cost was very minimal overall as the donor arm was only like $2.50 at the junkyard I used.... If you don't have things like a power drill and bench grinder then that could impact things as well...

I have the motor assembly without the arm. If you're interested just PM me.
