Default The 2006 Bb on the Toyota Japan Website--the new XB?

I just checked out the 2006 Bb on the Toyota Japan website, and it looks like some interior changes have been made. The seats look different, the "CD cubbyhole" under the radio appears to hold cupholders, and the shifter is on the steering column! Is this what they're doing to the American XB? Personally, I like the shifter on the floor, and since I don't use cupholders, I'd rather have them out of the way, too, on the floor. And am I right in assuming the new XB does not have radio controls on the steering wheel?

Here's the link:

The bB has always had the column shift, they are designed to be automatics. Also, by eliminating the need for the space robbing center console, they are able to use a bench seat, also not a new thing for the bB. Plus us Americans need GIANT cupholders for our SUPERSIZED meals in the car...

Notice the E-Brake pedal on the floor.

Another thing that always trips me out is how the shift indicator is reversed - L2DNRP

that's a USDM part also. it's in most Toyota trucks and many of the cars too. Few dollars at the parts counter.

The "New York" package, awesome. It amazes me how much influence our (U.S.) culture has on other countries, good or bad. This goes vice versa as well.. as can be seen by how many bB fanatics we have in the states..

That "thing" on the inside roof of the bB looks like a back seat heat/air conditioner head unit...

And speaking of back seats, theirs are like they are (fold forward twice) because the bB, a "city car," does NOT come with a spare tire or any place to put one, IIRC... Notice the 'flat floor' in the back that is LOWER than the door sill, rather than higher as on ours.

I am totally digging the matching illuminated bB emblem and speedo. We need that BAD. As for the retro LA package...... yuck, bad idea.
