Default 2006 XB

Hi All,

I am considering a 2006 Xb. I am to the point where my gas bill per month is about $600 while driving an F150 daily. I must still keep the truck, but I need a fuel efficient car. I have been intrigued by this site for a few years an finally registered.

I found a camo green '06 with 39k miles. It has a few scratches on the paint but nothing major and no dents. It drove fine but does have a bit of interior wear from hauling who knows what in the back. It does have the extended warranty, recent brake pads, arm rest, and new tires. This box is completely stock. Where would the 6 CD changer be located?

The owner wants $11,000 bottom line for it. Is this a good deal? Thanks!

Sounds about right. I believe the 6 CD goes in the dash, replacing the existing one. The BOX is great on MPG, depending on how you drive. Hope it works out for you. They can be an addiction.

Default ....BrewMonkey.....

That 11k figure sounds about right for an 06 with 39,000 miles.
Check the Kelly Blue Book value and ask if the trans fluid was changed at 30,000 as recomended.
The 6-disk CD changer looks the same as the stock radio, but it holds 6 CD's. It is in the center of the dash board bazel, above the three dials.

Good luck...

Any other questions? Just ask or search around here on ScionLife and you will find the answer!

Post up photos in this thread after you buy it but before you mod it.

i just wonder why there aren't a TON more people in your position desperately seeking a car that gets double the gas mileage as their big trucks/suvs! i would be bashing my head on the gas pump each time i filled up if i didnt over 30mpg in the vehicle i drove daily.

Nice, not abad deal. you will love it if you get it, I just got mine about a month ago and it's awesome. Mine also had a few scuffs in teh back from hauling something, and on the hatch door carpet piece. I think I can replace that out thought.

I'm already upgrading things and have a LONG list of things I want to do to it.

Thanks for the replies. I just need to get my wife on the team, and it looks good so far. I mentioned the high gas bill every month and she said there is a Nissan car that gets great mileage. I suggested an XB. I called the owner and they still have it for sale. I'm thinking extendo warranty and 1 owner...We'll see where it goes from here.

Don't see how people can keep their big trucks & SUVs. The gas bill alone is another car payment. Make sure you keep us updated on your xB purchase.

11K seems high unless it was in really good condition. I'd offer closer to 10K but that's me. Good luck and I hope you can strike a deal.

I guess it depends on where you are. Here in NC, I can point to 2 '06's and 1 '05 on dealer lots, with similar miles to that one you saw, and they are, all 3, selling for $15,995.

In fact, I think the '05 is sold.

I was thinking about trading in my crown vic for an F-150, but the F-150, with the same engine as my car, gets about 8-10 less highway mpgs, and for some reason, they don't offer an 8 cylinder model in 5-spd. I don't blame you for wanting something more efficient. I'd just caution you that some people have experienced less than 30mpgs in their boxes. I average 28, mostly highway miles, but I fully and readily admit my gas pedal and the cabin floor have an intimate relationship.

Well, I checked it out again today and noticed the 2 rear tires were not new but needed replacing, 2 chips in the windshield from rocks, and a missing foglamp cover on the passenger side (the 6" long or so one on the very bottom). They are now asking $10,750, so I told them I would "smoke" on it. The warranty is actually a 5 year/60k warranty rather than the 100K warranty. Seems 2-4 people call or come by per week but nobody can get financing. Is this still a good deal or should I keep looking?

tires aren't a huge deal, sometimes you can get some good deals on tires. i just threw a new set of zr's on my 5.0 and for all 4 it was $430, yeah that's a lot but they were around $600 for all 4 to begin with. so 2 cheaper much smaller tires(mine were 17's) wouldnt cost as much. Plus then they are new

The foglight cover, also not a huge deal to replace.
the windshield however sucks.. that one is $$ to replace. Just depends how much it will bother you driving with it until one day you replace it (good thing about having a broken windshield is any future chips don't matter)

I would just personally have the car mechanically checked out, and if it's all good and you can get past the cosmetic fixable flaws, then i'de do it. mileage isn't all crazy on it either.. some ppl are asking $14's-16's with 70k+.

Unfortunately I know nothing about the warranty..
Now this stems a question about that though, didn't they all come with the same one? or is that per dealership? because i've seen some 06's with just a 3/36 one.. wtf?

Well, Toyota checked it out and they could not find anything wrong. Their suggestion was to go ahead and get it before it gets gone. So, I called the owners and let them know I want it. Once I get it, I'm sure I will need some help and have many questions, so please be patient with me. Thanks for all the good info so far! Will post pics when I get it.

I think you got a great deal for less than $11K with less than 40k miles.

I would say thats a deal too. I've been helping my sister look for a new car and I took a look at some xb's. WOW. The dealer that I bought mine from has 5 on the lot. All going for 15,500 and thats reduced from 16,995.

Well, I did get it for $10,750 and I am VERY happy with the car. My first tank got 32.7 MPG. 2nd tank got 35.2 and my 3rd tank got 35.7 mpg. So far so good! I love driving the 5 speed. Not sure how to post pics yet, but thanks again for all the replies.
