does anyone know how much it would cost to get 3 gauges put in the next to the speedometer/odometer?

i could give u a list of like 10 guys who did it and i will check with a guy who knows the wiring and see how much it would be but your probably gunna have to drive to him. he'll be like 20min away from the anaheim stadium but it'll be well priced cuz it's a real easy job

 

its easy to put in the gauge...price depends on what kind of sensor u want to hook up

I've got mine in the dash, but have only hooked up the voltmeter. The other ones are waiting for some down time, because I have a feeling its gonna be pretty complicated connecting my mechanical guages, mostly because im still wanting to keep the stock sending units and idiot lights working as well. As far as I know, the oil port is above the oil filter and the water port is on the cyl head end near the stock air box. As far as the volt meter I found a wire in the fuse box that turns on with the key and spliced into it with a fused wire to the guage. For now the lights are run off a switch i installed in the console, but i hope to tap into the actual guage lighting at some point. Every thing is grounded to a screw behind the center guage cluster. Word to the wise though, the guage lites will glare off the windshield unless you figure out a way of tilting them down or some how shading them. My guages are just some Autogage 2 1/16'' guages I got at Pep Boys. But, I took them apart, and painted the needles and hash marks to match the stock guages.....alot of work. As soon as I hook everything up, I will post up what I did. See Ya, Louie

 

I've been researching it myself ... There is a thread in the DIY section of echofans.net that describes a water temp sensor install that taps into the throttle body bypass lines. I'm considering that, and also considering a tee adapter for the top cooling hose (which is much more convenient but maybe less accurate). Someone else on echofans.net mentioned a coolant drain plug on the back side of the engine but I haven't really looked for it yet.

From my fuzzy interpretation of the wiring diagram it seems the stock oil pressure switch is hooked up only to the idiot light -- nothing else. I'd be tempted to replace it with a real sensor but I think I'd have to remove the intake manifold to get to it. An oil pressure port near the oil filter should make life much easier :D

Now did you go for an electrical voltmeter or a mechanical voltmeter? (And yes, that was a sad attempt at a joke. )
