It would make your calculations more accurate I believe.

The rim size is irrelevant, if your running stock tires, that's the only issue.

Multiply your Odo by 1.03 to get accurate miles traveled thus MPG, and you can multiply your speedo by .97 to come up with your accurate speed. Don't ask why it's set up that way

I still can figure out why they went with the smaller size for the USDM xB.

Also if you have a completely different size wheel and tire package (mine 215/45-17) then you need to come up with the correct calibration. I was multiplying mine by 1.04 until I did a speedo check that uses 5 miles (mine came up as 4.6) so I multiply now by 1.065 and it also helps me understand why my mileage was always so much lower than a lot of other peoples. Between the better weather, less around town stop and go and probably driving a bit easier this week I am above 31MPG (that is 2/3 city and 1/3 highway).

I am a complete head turner too-I just don't trust the mirrors and me to see everything the same and I love my box-don't want it hurt.

Hello all. I have a 2005 XB I bought in Dec. of 2005 so I've had it for 2 yrs now. So anyway I've been noticing much better "around town" mileage. I been getting 33-34 mpg...no freeway driving on "stock" tires and I was just wondering if that seems typical? I'd LOVE to get 41 on a trip but the best I got a couple of years ago was 36.

That is about right for normal/careful driving. How many miles do you have on it right now? The mpgs do go up as the miles add up due to the motor loosening up.

That's about right for gentle driving. My xB averages 35+ mpg around town every summer, and in June 2006 I got 42 mpg on a 250-mile tank by holding it around 60 mph the whole time.

My car is slightly over 32,000 miles and I just got a fill-1/2 highway and 1/2 city and I got 37+MPG-I was so amazed I checked it like 3 times-always over 37-before this it would hover at 31+ a little-crazy!

I think the looser the motors get the higher the mpgs are gonna be. Mine is slowly going up too.

hmm, looking back on that multiplier, since i'm running steelies that would be the 0.97 so my best tank since new plugs would ACTUALLY be roughly 36.5mpg and not 38.

So it looks like the biggest change with the 1st and 2nd gen xB's is the city MPG, going at 55 and a little over I can get over 40 MPG with my xB2, 70 mph drops me down to around 30, but in the city I'm only getting 19-24 depending on whether I'm driving to keep my MPG's down or if I'm in a hurry.

I get 35 MPG hwy at 70 MPH or there abouts.
If I went 55 MPH I'm pretty sure I'd be getting about 46 MPG.
All city? IDK. but I drive mostly city and I'm getting about 33MPG on a tank
I'd say "1.5 liter FTW!"
