I have the Curt. I've had it for a few years now and have had no trouble towing responsibly yet.

I do have a problem with it bottoming and scraping sometimes. But I live in very hilly Pittsburgh. It would be like San Francisco for you. Most of the time it's OK, but with a ground clearance of about 3 or 4 inches, sometimes you have to take things at an angle, or you will scrape. But you living in fairly flat Southern Cal., you shouldn't have a problem.

I have the Invisi-Hitch (like the Drawtite one pictured above). With the drawbar removed there is zero chance of scraping, as it is higher than the bottom of the rear bumper. With the drawbar in I've only scraped once or twice, but I'm also towing a big trailer with it.

That's awesome!

Got to have more info on that camper and how it pulls.
That's gotta be about a 71 right? How heavy and all that stuff. Looks to have like no tong weight hooked up to the B.

Thanks. It's a '62 Serro Scotty (you can tell the earlier models because the door is smaller). From the factory they are 995lbs, but I've since removed the propane & water systems as well as the icebox so I'm guessing it is closer to 900-950 now (haven't gotten it re-weighed).
It pulls pretty well, but washboard roads upset it badly due it the short length and xB's short wheelbase. It is a bastard to back up for the same reason and loves to turn too far.
I cheat when I tow and replace the rear Swift Mach springs with the stock ones (takes about 8-10min), that way the rear is higher, so once I put the trailer on the ball it sits even.
The pic above is from the night I picked it up, here is a recent one after some resto work.

This thread has a lot of great info on hitches. I learned a lot just now, and I didn't even want to, lol.

Cool stuff though.

They made nearly the same trailer from the mid-50's to the late 70's so they are easy to confuse. They're even doing a new "retro" line that looks like the older ones.
I'm still working on the interior, Need to make some more cabinet doors, re-do the tabletop, and re-upholster the cushions, plus a lot of detail stuff. That last shot shows the bed platform, It is supposed to fold into a couch, but I'm probably jsut going to put on full mattress there for simplicity.

Those can be sweet, The nicest part is a hell of a lot less rot or leaking to worry about.
