Default Accessory Lighting

I'm in the process of installing some gauges in my box. I'm going to use the space directly to the left of the speedo cluster for three Autometer Ultra Light II Gauges. Can anyone out there tell me the best place to connect the lighting 12 VDC wire and the ignition (12 VDC on) wire?

I would tap off the cig lighter wire. It is switched on with the key only, and no power with key in off position.

How much power can ythat wire produce? I always hear people say use that wire, however, I'm worried about using that wire because I still use 12v accessories and I dont want a fuse to blow.

If I were to tap into the cig lighter wire, and use it for 4 12" cathodes. Can I still use any 12v accessory through the cigarette lighter?

Scion offers underdash lighting as an option. I think I'll ask them where they attach their dealer installed (and Warrented) lights.

The cig lighter is protected with a 15A fuse, I believe, so as long as you do not exceed that with accessories all should be OK. But to be safe, I also protect any wire run off of that wire with its own properly rated fuse.

So the cig wire should be able to maintain let's say 4 cathodes PLUS an accessory in the cig lighter?

I don't know how much the cathodes pull, but it should state somewhere in the information how many amps it pulls. If it states it in Watts for each one, just devide each # by 12, times 4 chahodes and you will have the amps to see if you are getting close to 15. Also would suggest protecting the cathode wiring with its own fuse of the proper size for the 4 cathodes.
